How did the washing machine know that I had 8 loads of laundry to do and it was Sunday of a three-day weekend? This is one of life's mysteries. During load 2, we get an F21 error message. That's a new one. I looked it up in the manual and it means the washer isn't draining well.

We're reasonably handy people, so we watched a couple of YouTube videos and tried the easy stuff (draining and clearing the filter). Unfortunately, that didn't work. The next thing the manual recommends is changing the pump. I watched a couple more videos. COULD we have done it? Probably. Would it have been fun to spend my Presidents' Day holiday listening to my husband swear on the floor of our laundry nook as he tried to replace the part? Definitely not.

I looked on Yelp and found A & J Appliance Repair. Hundreds of reviews and a 5 star rating?! People writing reviews when he helped them fix their problems for free over the phone?! But it's Presidents' Day. Is anyone even going to be working today? With 7 more loads of laundry to do (added a load of towels from draining the filter 2x), I decided to take a chance.

Phil not only answered the phone, but said he could get the part and do the job this morning. He was over and done in less than 2 hours from when I called him. He's a super nice guy, showed us the issue, wore shoe covers and cleaned everything up when he was done. While I didn't do a lot of comparison shopping, his price seemed quite reasonable. When he was done, he also gave us a few tips on how to keep our other appliances happy. Did you know that you're supposed to run hot water in the sink before you start the dishwasher?! Now you do.

Our washing machine is happy. We're happy. And I will definitely call Phil in the future when the next appliance has an issue.

I called with an error code I was getting on my washing machine and left a message. I got a call right back. Rather than set up an appointment, he told me how to troubleshoot the problem. He walked me through, step by step, how I could check to see if there qas something caught in the filter and then said to call back if that didn't work and we could set an appointment. Who does that? He saved me money and got us back to work on clearing the mountain of laundry!

Gone are the days of this girl waiting hours for a repair person to show up! This is the second time I've used this wonderful, family owned, small business and I am so glad we found them! Phil was on time, super friendly and super fast. He fixed my oven for a fair price and even vacuumed out inside (I admit, it's not often cleaned ) and outside the appliance. He gave me advice on a washing machine that has been acting funny too. Phil was very professional and very knowledgeable. I appreciate his help very much and I definitely recommend you pass on the big businesses and use A&J Appliance Repair Service.

Never have I ever been so impressed by anyone contacted by my various landlords over the years to come fix something.

Anyone who has ever rented has done the exhausting song and dance of having something repaired. I had prepared myself, mentally, physically and spiritually for what I truly anticipated to be nothing short of a large to medium inconvenience. Especially since my dryer was broken and I was running dangerously close on clean laundry. I was prepared to have someone show up to my house 2-3 hours after they were supposed to, take a minute to take something apart, only to realize they don't have the part and will have to come back tomorrow when they have time. Leaving behind a veritable confetti of dryer parts languishing on the floor waiting in vain for their unknown return.

THIS IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED.

Phil was on the phone with me within 15 minutes of my call to the property management, was at my home within two hours, completed the dryer fix, AND fixed the washing machine which was ultimately the cause of the dryer issues. Had the parts to fix it on hand and was in and out in 2 hours. Not to mention, professional, punctual, precise (see thesaurus.com for other positive p words) and a real laugh riot. My only complaint is that he would not let me make him a snack.

Give them all your business, you will not be disappointed. Unless you're into disappointment then I don't know what to tell you.

We are so happy that we called A&J Appliance. Phil came out same day and fixed our washing machine (which wasnt spinning). Honestly, we wish he did more home repair scopes outside of appliances (other things on our list) because he was honest, reliable, presentable, and timely.

My washing machine broke on a Monday morning. I called Phil and he was very honest about not being able to look at it until the next day and understood if I wanted to call another company to see if I could have them fix it that day. I said OK, I will try another company. I ended up not being able to get another company to come out so I called Phil back and scheduled him for Tuesday morning to meet with my husband.

When Phil got there he was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain what was exactly wrong with the machine and quoted him the price to fix it. It ended up being the transmission. Again, he wasn't pushy or rude and gave my husband time to think about if we wanted the washer fixed or buy a new one. Even though our washing machine is 13 years old, he said we had the Cadillac of washers because they don't make them with all of these functions anymore. So we did some research and he was right, the cost to fix it was the same cost to buy a new basic washing machine that didn't have any of the features we wanted so we decided to fix it.

I made an appointment for that Saturday at 9am and for some reason between Tuesday & Saturday I got in my head that the appointment was at 10am so I set my alarm for 9am. I checked my calendar and noticed the appointment is at 9am, not 10am and I jumped out of bed looked out the window and there he was unloading the van, right on time! Luckily I had time to splash some water on my face and ran downstairs right before the doorbell rang.I opened the door to him and his son (in training). I'm sure he could tell I had just woken up but if he could, he didn't say anything (very nice). Again, he was very courteous and explained everything that needed to be fixed to me.

At the end he ended up charging me less that he originally quoted my husband. So far my washing machine is running better than is has been in years!

My washing machine went on the fritz this weekend and not being one who likes to drag my laundry across town, I decided to call in a repair service. I saw A & J's wonderful reviews on yelp and called. The owner (Phil) returned my call within minutes and we scheduled an appointment for the next morning at 8 am. He was punctual (I've had friends who have said that they have waited all day for someone to come do a repair) but Phil was here at 8 on the dot.

Although the problem was minor, Phil still gave the machine a once over to make sure that the rest of the washer was running properly.

It felt great supporting a local small, family run business and when future problems arise I'll definitely call A & J Appliance Repair.

Our experience with Phil and the A&J Appliance Service has been nothing short of amazing. These guys are the best!! Phil has helped us fix both our refrigerator and our washing machine. He's always totally honest, super friendly and reasonably priced. But best of all he's incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in his profession. Its really nice to know we have such a great business to turn to when any of our appliances need servicing.

I have now used Phil multiple times--for a washing machine, a refrigerator and a dryer. Like others, I have found him direct and honest. He doesn't want to waste his or your time, but more importantly he doesn't want to waste your money. Every time he has come out, he has been friendly, genuine and thorough. He's also running his own small business and supporting his family, which I respect tremendously. I will go back to him again and again.
