We've used A.T. Weber a handful of times for repairs, and also got a quote for a water heater install. Here are the issues we encountered during those experiences:

      * They're pricey. Their hourly rate for repairs are higher than competitors, and their water heater install quote was higher by about $1,200. Meanwhile, the work isn't apparently superior nor better covered (e.g., when one issue came up again a year later, they charged full price to address it again).

      * Charged for unapproved work. During a toilet seal replacement, the technician also decided to replace the valve in the tank and only told us about it after he did -- not itself a problem but also charged us for it.

      * Opaque pricing. Estimates and invoice only contain a total price (no breakdown).

      * Wouldn't fix: Had a leaky faucet that I asked them if they would fix while they were here for other work, but they said the faucet is too old and they couldn't. But when another vendor was here to do other work, they noticed the leak and fixed it without asking nor charging for it!

My Navien 240A2 tankless water heater suddenly started issuing tepid water to our showers, and when I attempted to troubleshoot it myself, it was clear that it was going to require the intervention of a professional. I found A.T. Weber on Navien's site, as they are a certified installer, and cross-referenced it here on Yelp. I'm here to say that A.T. Weber warrants all the stars.

Campbell, their tankless water heater specialist, came out to have a look, and this guy sure knows his stuff. I'd done some research up front so I had a good idea of how it worked, and his assessment of the problem was ultimately the same as what I came up with (a bad check valve) but he did a thorough check and cleaning on everything from the gas input to the in- and outflows. He had the Navien folks on the phone the whole time, and fortunately this is covered by their warranty. And when he was done, he also took the time to show me how to shut off the main water feed and the gas in case of emergency, which was something I'd been meaning to ascertain since I bought the house a few months ago.

I'll definitely call A.T. Weber again in the event that I have plumbing issues.

Our Navien water heater was howling because the pump had failed and we had an assortment of other plumbing problems all of which were largely due to the lack of skill of other plumbers. Campbell and Miguel from AT Weber resolved all of the issues skillfully and professionally. Without a doubt they are the best plumbers that I've ever had the pleasure of hiring and I highly recommend them. The cost is well worth the value of knowing that your plumbing repairs are completed properly.

      BAD WORKMANSHIP, DISHONEST, AND RUDE

They incorrectly installed a water heater thermocouple three years ago. The pilot light went out after our basement flooded from the recent rain, and PG&E refused to relight the pilot light, pointing out the crappy install of the thermocouple. One of A.T. Weber's technicians confirmed this bad workmanship when he came to fix it and said, "Oh yeah, THAT'S NOT RIGHT."

When we called A.T. Weber to schedule the fix, they did *not* give a quote for a service call and we remained under the impression they were going to remedy their original bad installation.

We were surprised to get a bill in the mail and when we called to question it, Justin ended up yelling that he quoted us a price over the phone and then actually hung up!

He then called back, deflecting and talking about some things that were not about the issue at hand: that he never advised they would charge to remedy their bad workmanship. He's clearly trying to cover his ass for not doing that. We will be paying the invoice and washing our hands of this business.

AT Weber has quality staff who are prompt and professional. They have helped us a few times. Last year they rerouted a plumbing line that was done incorrectly. Last week they capped off an old line we don't need anymore. I appreciate feeling confident in the quality of their work.

We hired AT Weber to do the plumbing for our remodel and while the quality of their work ended up being pretty good, it took very close supervision on our part for that to be the case. I would suggest using ATWeber for clogged drains and leaky water heaters but not anything more involved than that. Here are a few of the problems they caused that we had to make them solve:
Their worker installed a toilet in our Jack and Jill bathroom, blocking the door from closing. He was going to leave it like that. When we raised the issue he suggested we buy a different toilet, despite the fact that there was plenty of room behind the toilet. Another contractor (carpenter) suggested that the plumber reposition the pipe under the toilet so it would fit.

When ATW was running the pipes for our kitchen, they didn't follow the kitchen layout we had given them and we had to measure everything ourselves and make them reposition the pipes multiple times. They never got the drain pipe for the sink in the right position and the general contractor has to cut a bunch of holes inside our cabinetry for the drain to run laterally and it is super ugly.

It took them 5 tries to install a pot filler.

Essentially, ATWeber took no responsibility for getting things right the first time. They didn't follow the plans we gave them or keep track of what work they had remaining in our contract. We had to do all of their project management and monitor the quality and correctness of their work. They were the contractor that required the most oversight and attention in our remodel out of the 12 that we worked with. That being said they did use quality materials and the plumbing all works great.

Note that we didn't actually receive services from A.T. Weber but I just have to say I'm really impressed even by their response to our inquiry. We had an issue with our water heater so I reached out for a quote. Before we got a response we realized it was actually a problem with our gas and an earthquake valve that got triggered. Then A.T. Weber responded and they nailed it, and guessed what the issue was based on the info I shared! They were also very clear about when they could get someone out, being really empathetic that we might go with someone else to get someone out sooner. So we didn't end up needing their help, but will definitely reach out when we do!

Okay, this may be the weirdest, but most honest review you have read. We took on a lot of water during the atmospheric storms of this year, and called AT Weber. The first crew came out, and out of the kindness of their hearts, gave us a great solution to keep water out of the house in the ensuing storms, probably saving our foundation. After the storms, owner Todd came out twice and gave us two separate bids. As time went on, we had more info and realized the job was very large, and maybe at this time, too much out of scope and scheduling for AT Weber. Todd encouraged us to talk to another company, that referred us to another new start-up locally-owned drainage company, and we are going with them. I wanted to give them and Todd a shout out for holding our hands when we had over a foot of standing water in and around our crawl space and for being so responsible and professional. His patience and expertise, which I almost exhausted, are greatly appreciated. These kinds of concerned businesses are rare. I am very grateful to them.
