American Freight: Appliance, Furniture, Mattress

American transport was formally Sears Outlet. It is a big store with a parking lot and lots of merchandise.

I was here to look at refrigerators; they certainly had a lot to choose from both in and out of the box. The prices in the box were a bit less expensive than most stores. I was hoping to find what I wanted out of the box and only slightly damaged. I did not find what I wanted in the store.

My star rating is because they took my name and what I was looking for and put it on a preprinted sheet in a book. When they get their weekly shipments they will call people if they have appliances that might be what the customer was looking for.

Bought a dishwasher and for the quality felt it was overpriced. I've had it less than a year and it's not working. I've placed two service calls in 6 months. Don't buy from American Freight

Clarence was awesome and got me the best deal and helped locate delivery service of my fridge.

This place is a scam! False and misleading advertising! They advertise items as "like new" condition. To me that means just like new. To them it means scratched up but not run over by a truck. The items I looked at were definitely not like new. They were obviously returned because they were scratched, dented or not working. And they only warranty appliances for 24 hours. So if you get it home and you can't install it with in 24 hours and it doesn't work, you are out of luck. go anywhere else!

Company is breaking the law with faults advertising. Two items shown available for pick up and sale in San Leandro drove from the north bay down to San Leandro got there, and supposedly both items were red flagged as defective.. I'm out time gas and bridge toll and both items are still on their webpage for sale.
I highly recommend not giving these POS your money .

This place is a scam. Their prices are not good as things start to add up. You can get better appliances at Home Depot for less than the open box items. The quality is subpar. Their delivery windows are blatant lies. They think they can force you to take delivery windows weeks out after providing delivery dates as early as the next day. Pay attention to all the bad reviews. This place is trash.

Junk furniture with an extended warranty that doesn't get explained to you. Service is poor and I will not recommend wasting time going there. Fake leather that destroys itself so beware. The store doesn't even try to help and just send you to a website. You took my money in person and turned your back to me.

Initial Review:
Many of the appliances will be a scratch and dent, regardless of the listed condition - consider this before you make the drive. Check the appliance carefully before you buy as you only have a 48-hour return window.

There are some good deals here, but a "Like New" appliance ought not to have significant visible dents. The had 5 or 6 "Like New" models of a particular refrigerator, all of which had a serious dent in the same location on the door.

UPDATE: American Freight responded that "We never know where the defect is, but it is always cosmetic". Well, I know where it is.. just look at the attached picture. Of the refrigerators of the same model in stock, this was the best. All but one of them were listed in "Like New" condition. I realize the substantial discounts offered by American Freight reflect some damage to the appliance. I simply balk at being told something is "Like New" on the website only to drive all the way there and find the corner bashed in. The stainless steel on a monogram refrigerator is pretty substantial, so the impact required to do this probably also did some damage to the structure.

Purchased GE gas dryer that was listed, in writing, on AF web site as "new in the box". When I arrived at the store there was one unit left and it was not in the box. I was assured by the manager that it was new and was recently placed on the floor for sale two days prior to my purchase.

The dryer worked for exactly 7 TOTAL days and no longer turns on. When I reached out to GE directly, they said the warranty has expired. I called the store and the manager told me to show the repairman the receipt and even though it does not say new, they will repair at no cost.

We have to now wait two weeks for the repairman to show up and "hope" it will be fixed for free as the manager described. All in all, very poor experience and the San Leandro store does not stand behind their merchandise nor do they care about the customer. Very disappointed.

UPDATE: After posting and scrolling down on yelp, I noticed the store manager's contact info. After reaching out, she immediately got involved and resolved by problem right away. Will get them a try again.
