Nothing is free. Was 85 just for them to come out and diagnose my fridge. Ended up costing 215 to replace a switch

Why would I write a great review for a company that I didn't hire? It's simple.
I'm the kind of person who gets three bids from contractors for projects around my house. Appliance Repair Team came in a little high for a recent washer repair, so I chose another vendor.
But I was still mighty impressed with their responsiveness to my request for a precise parts/labor estimate for work which was easy for me to describe. Many other companies quote a price only for a diagnostic visit. This makes sense if the customer doesn't know what the problem is, but not so much sense if you've correctly identified what you need and want to compare prices. After all, why pay someone to come out and diagnose when you already know what you need?
ART promptly returned every one of my texts and was precise and specific concerning the likely TOTAL cost of my project, and how long it would take to complete the work. They respected my intelligence and my investigation.
I would contact them again for any other home project.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marshall M.East Bay, CA020628Mar 3, 2024
I was very happy in the quick turnaround time for having a repairman come out to analyze what was wrong with my washer.
He was very knowledgeable and courteous.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 21, 2023
I recently sought out Appliance Repair Team because my dishwasher has been acting up. I contacted them online and they were very responsive. I was able to make an appointment through messages and they came out the next day. It cost about $65 for the service call but that fee is waived with service.
Victor message me when he was on my way. I appreciated that. He checked my dishwasher and help trouble the issue. I was thankful for his input.
He came prepared with equipment and had shoe booties on hand.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 28, 2023
Very responsive. I found several great repair places on Yelp, but almost all of them seemed overbooked. Appliance Repair Team were responsive and efficient.
Not necessarily the cheapest but still quite reasonable and did a solid job on our dishwasher repair. A part had to be ordered and even though they couldn't get a hold of me earlier in the day, they still had a guy come out in the evening to install it.
Very satisfied with their service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Xielo V.South San Francisco, CA0126Dec 26, 2022
My 6 yr old LG refrigerator decided not to work a few days before Xmas. It was not cooling and it was not making ice. I called Appliance Repair team and someone came to diagnose the problem on 12/24. It took him a couple of hours to figure out the problem but he found the problem. It took him another 2 hrs to fix it.
He said to give it at least 5 hours and it would be up and running again making ice and cooling. After paying $702.00 and waiting over night- my 6 yr old LG is still not making ice :(. I called the company again and they are coming over on 12/26 to see what's going on.
Today is 12/26 Monday morning and the refrigerator is making ice! Why did it take so long to make ice?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ken M.Walnut Creek, CA05Jun 9, 2023Updated review
An update to my rating of 6/6/23. I have adjusted rating down from 2 stars to 1 star. New appliance repair company came out, ran a diagnostic test and determined it was a faulty ice maker. Came back a day later to install new one, ran another diagnostic test and determined new ice maker was good to go. Said wait 24 hours for ice. 18 hours later we have a functioning ice maker in our refrigerator!
The Appliance Repair Team apparently does not have highly trained technician. They do not know how to do diagnostics testing. They just know how to swap out parts. These technicians are known in the business as parts monkeys. But even then they don't know how to determine if new parts are working. Apparently reading the manual would tell them that it takes up to 24 hours for a newly installed ice maker to make ice.
Beware of the Appliance Repair Team. They are likely to be hit or miss in being able to fix your problem.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 6, 2023Previous reviewI called Appliance Repair Team as my 5 year KitchenAid refrigerator was not making ice. Serviceman came next day and said I needed a new icemaker. He ordered part and they came out about 4 business days later with new icemaker and installed it. It wouldn't work. He said he thought it might be a problem with power getting to icemaker, but said he didn't know what to do. He put old icemaker back in refrigerator, packed up new icemaker and his tools, refunded my deposit and left. WTF? I wasted a week. It was clear the technician's knowledge was limited to repairing plug and play problems. Plus he had to use a language translator in his iphone to communicate with me, which made things difficult. But he did refund my deposit with no pushback, so they are honest.
I made an appointment with a different repair company. I hope it goes better. - Apr 27, 2022
Prompt, responsive, and great service. They answered my Yelp inquiry fairly quick and they knew what they were doing. My dishwasher was spewing water from the air gap every time it drained.
The only thing I want to point out, though, is that they said $80 for diagnosis, waived if hired to service. However, when the tech arrived, I explained what was happening (almost verbatim what I wrote in my Yelp inquiry). He touched nothing. Looked at nothing. And said $185 to fix it. Why can't the Yelp response be as accurate? It's not the only appliance place that did this but as a consumer, I do find it annoying.
Regardless most likely if I have another appliance issue, I'd probably hire them again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nika A.San Pablo, CA44415Jun 2, 2023
They did an awesome job. Came out right away diagnosed and repair within a few days while we waited for the parts for a reasonable price. Super happy to have found this company on here. Will definitely be back if something else breaks. Our dishwasher is fully functional again and I am so happy with the entire service experience.

What had been I minor leak for quite a while became a bigger one due my own error; good news was the bigger one prompted my seeking professional help.
I got 3 Yelp contacts; $125, $75, & $60. I went for the middle, scheduled for tomorrow, then they called back, offering to come today.
Initially I was put off by the slow answering of the phone (followed by a weird burst of music) but the repairman arrived on time (after texting from 20 minutes away). He was diligent, efficient & did his best to explain (English isn't his native tongue). Non-judgmental & completely resolved in an hour; &210Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Bert M.Benicia, CA1313Jul 7, 2023
Viktor was very responsive and was able to come over within 48 hours. He quickly diagnosed the problem with our refrigerator being on the warm side, ordered parts and finished the job the next day. We will definitely hire this outfit for future news.

I had called around to get a few different quotes to repair a dryer that was making a large clunking noise and generating more heat than usual. We ended up going with Appliance Repair Team and Oliver came by to diagnose the issue.
Appliance Repair Charges a $75 mandatory fee just to diagnose the issue, which is fine, but after he diagnosed the dryer he determined that it was only dirty, and said it needed a full cleaning. Some loose change and items inside the dryer seemed to be causing the noise issue, but it shocked us that the cost to clean the dryer was $250.
The $75 would be applied to this, but it was a tad upsetting since nothing was really being repaired in the unit and it was just a bunch of accumulated dirt being vacuumed out.
Oliver took the time to dismantle the unit and cleaned it out, and he even determined that the dryer runs hot due to possible build up in the dryer tube, but cleaning the tube was not a service they provide. He suggested we call another company to resolve that issue. All in all it took him less than an hour to clean the dryer.
Oliver was pleasant and professional, but the quote seemed quite a bit excessive for the type of work being done, hence the 4 star rating.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
