The staff is very helpful and informative. I had to order a part for me Miele vacuum and they were the closest store that could accommodate my request. They knew exactly what I needed and informed me when the part came in. Definitely a go to store for vacuum and sewing machine service and parts.

I was gifted a Miele vacuum cleaner which was awesome but I had no instruction on how to make the most of it, let alone maintain it etc. When the "change bag" light went on, I headed to Berkekey Vacuum & Sewing.

There were a couple of people in line already when I arrived but surprise! This outfit knows how to move a line! in less than 5 min I was getting first rate attention on my vac questions.

The person checked & validated that I had installed the new bag correctly AND showed me how to install the HEPA filter. I was elated to get this instruction so quickly and directly, because I had fiddled with that HEPA filter and could not figure it out. She also wrote today's date on the filter as a reminder to replace it one year. When I asked what the charge for today is I was told $0.00!!!! Hands down GREAT service. Super knowledgeable staff as well as amiable and efficient. They surpass the gold standard imho, and certainly above and beyond any other vac shop I've ever visited in my lifetime. Thank you so much!!

I am a huge fan of Berkeley Vac even though there is a repair shop closer to my house. My Miele vacuum turned out to be more problematic and costly than originally thought. Jim called the manufacturer about a part that broke too soon and wanted to get the repair done at a fair price. Service was efficient, friendly , honest and fair.

I love this store and the people who own and work there! Good old fashioned service - I think it's a family business as well? Sometimes I go there even if I don't need anything, just to get a dose of "the good old days."

I bought a Miele vacuum from them, so don't have much reason to use them for repairs, just to get bags and filters. They were exptremely helful and knowledgeable when I was trying to decide which vacuum to buy - I remember getting the feeling that they weren't trying to sell me something I didn't need.

I've also bought a product that was supposed to remove dog urine/poop stains (some type of enzyme thingee). They told me if it didn't work (which it didn't - nothing works) to bring it back (which I never did) and they'd give me my money back.

This place is the greatest. Friendly, fair, and they really know their stuff. I wandered in with my Miele vacuum, which was still going strong after more than 10 years but had developed an electrical problem. They fixed it on the spot, and also offered to repair two other minor problems (broken latch and stuck wand). I was in and out of there in 15 minutes, with a good-as-new vacuum and for a reasonable price. It's so great to see an independent specialty business like this.

Berkeley Vacuum and Sewing Center, a family-run business, is a local treasure. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. I bought a Miele vacuum from them 20+ years ago (they last forever!) and recently bought a second one. When the new power head stopped working shortly after I bought it, they fixed it on the spot for free. Their turn around time for more complicated repairs is nearly as quick. After grumpily accepting our Miele vacuum for a repair covered by the warranty and saying it would be 7 to 10 days, they took over a month to fix it and when I picked it up it was covered in dust.

This store is such a wonderful resources, and I'm sad to hear that it may have to close. I bought our Miele vacuum there, and they've repaired it once for a fair price. I regularly buy the Miele bags there for a reasonable price. I recommend, and I hope the business will survive!

Finally got to the point to where the motor in our old (now discontinued) Miele Vacuum was dying. Of the three different motors that model has had, they identified the correct replacement based upon how it was failing. The replacement motor was $135. Given that we were going to do the work to swap it, they said if they guessed wrong they'd exchange it. They also let me know to put the older fan housing on the new motor. The new motor with the old fan housing works great. I trust them.
