So rice and beans are ala carte?

      A:

Some dishes come with rice or beans (or both, like the Carne Asada for example), but yes we also offer rice and beans a-la-carte!

      Food - 5/5
      Ambiance - 5/5
      Service - 5/5

Wow! I had a wonderful experience at Colibri. I came in party of 5, 3 of which were celebrating birthdays. Our waitress, Coco, was the absolute sweetest-- very patient offering recommendations.

Carajillo - one of the best I've ever had. SO GOOD. And paired nicely with my mole.

Mole poblano- beautiful presentation and very delicious. Chicken was cooked perfectly and the mole had the perfect amount of chocolate flavor to it.

I mentioned the birthdays to Coco and her and team came with a whole presentation for the birthday crew.

I'd highly recommend this restaurant. Great food and friendly staff.

A Flavorful Fiesta at Calibri Mexican Bistro!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Calibri Mexican Bistro, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped in, I knew I was in for a treat.
      1. Perfect Setting: Picture this: a sunny day at the Presidio Park near the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Calibri boasts a fantastic outdoor seating area, and even though it was bustling, they swiftly found a table for our party of four. Kudos to the manager for ensuring we had just the right mix of shade and sun!
      2. Guacamole Bliss: We kicked off our culinary adventure with freshly made guacamole and chips. Let me emphasize: this guacamole was next-level. The chips were perfectly crunchy, toasted, and not a hint of greasiness. A true winner!
      3. Exploring the Menu: Our appetizers included Frijoles Negros (Black Beans with Epazote Herb and topped with Queso Fresco), fired bananas (intriguing!), and Tostadas de Tinga (Crisp Golden Handmade Tortillas topped with Stewed Chicken and Chipotle Sour Cream). But wait, there's more! We also savored Panuchos de Cochinita Pibil (Axiote Seed Marinated Roasted Pork, shredded over Handmade Corn Shells stuffed with Refried Black Beans accompanied by Avocado, Habanero Pico de Gallo, and Pickled Red Onions which elevated the flavors to new heights.)
      4. Main Course Magic: As if that weren't enough, we indulged in Carne Asada Estilo Sonora (grilled beef, Sonora-style) and Enchiladas. Each bite was a celebration of both modern and authentic Mexican cuisine.
      5. Ambiance and Staff: The restaurant exudes joy and warmth. The ambiance is spot-on, inviting and lively. And the staff? Absolutely wonderful. Their attentiveness and friendly demeanor made the experience even better.
In all honesty, if my stomach had more room, I would've ordered everything on the menu! But fear not, I'll be back.
So, fellow foodies, mark this gem on your culinary map. You won't be disappointed.

You don't have to be in the Mission to get good authentic Mexican food. Part of being a yelper is stumbling upon good eats. Colibri Mexican Bistro is located in the Presidio. Chatting with the server I learned that they used to be in the union square area.

If the weather is nice out, sit out in the patio. It's beautiful inside or out, but I prefer outside.

The churro was worth every calorie and the tacos were amazing.

Service was 5 stars and nothing short.

Never knew there was a Mexican restaurant in the Presidio until a friend chose this place for her birthday dinner. We came on a weekend for dinner and the place was quite popular! Shout out to Jay for his excellent and friendly service! We tried various dishes in our large party and everything was quite good. These are the dishes I had a chance to taste:

Shrimp in tamarind sauce: the tamarind gave the shrimp a bit of a tang

Braised short ribs: the ribs were tender and moist

I recommend this place and parking was very easy for dinner.

Interesting location at the former officers club on the Presidio in San Francisco. The drinks were creative and very well done. The menu is interesting and very good flavors. Service was good, particularly for a Monday mid-afternoon. The decor is tasteful Mexican and clean. A great find for us.

WOW... this review was buried in my drafts forever... This place is pretty good. when someone is asking for a Mexican resto recommendation, COLIBRI... when someone is near the presidio, same suggestion... Mexican food isn't my favorite... just because I'm not too fond of some ingredients...well, one ingredient.. CILANTRO...

but hey, they are able to accommodate me... that just shows that food is fresh and well thought of.. I always try to get the Chile Relleno (stuffed with chorizo), chips and guacamole, and the queso fundido.... you can have your dishes with freshly made tortilla, or chips... you cant go wrong with either choice...

don't forget to pair your food with their cocktails... I always end up ordering something different, depending on my mood, and I have never been disappointed. I usually come here after a morning at the Presidio Tunnel top parks...

Great food, great drinks... amazing service. WONDERFUL spot... I've only been here on weekend brunches, so its always a good comfortable meal outdoors... Im seeing a solid 4 star here, but this is definitely a 5 for me... cant wait to come back.

The food here was absolutely amazing and the service was just as astonishing! Every single dish was absolutely delicious, especially the guacamole and the tostadas and the queso! Everything also came out super fast! Our waiter was super attentive and checked on us multiple times, we ended up staying past opening time and the patiently waited for us to leave and didn't say a word! The environment is also super gorgeous, it's a huge restaurant with a very well decorated outdoor area with heating at every single table, and also a beautiful indoor area! Really enjoyed my experience here and definitely definitely recommend!!

a beautiful day on the Presidio full of sunshine and a light breeze. A perfect day for the patio. The service was attentive but not obsequious.

The Oaxaca cocktail was awesome! By far my favorite part of the meal. The infusion of habaneros gives it the perfect kick.

The guacamole was good with fresh ingredients however the something; rather nondescript.

The Panuchos were well seasoned and very delicious with well balanced complex flavor profile. At first I was disappointed with the portion size (there were only 2). Worked out okay given our other dishes. Still think there should have been at least 3.

The churros were the disappointment of the meal. Flavoring was good but the churros were hard, dense, and even difficult to cut. I would avoid those and order something else if that is the standard.

Overall a good spot and I would return to try some of their other offerings.
