We were staying in a nearby hotel and walked to G-men Ramen for dinner. The restaurant is small, but we were seated right away, and experienced prompt, friendly service.
I ordered the Shoyu ramen and enjoyed it! The broth tasted great, and the noodles were my favorite part of the dish.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jun 16, 2024
The ambiance of this place is super cool - old anime posters and wooden tables/stools. It made us feel like we were back in Japan!
We came her on a Friday night at around 7pm and it wasn't busy, we were seated right away. The staff was super helpful with suggestions and recommendations.
Chicken kaarage - I loved the texture and how juicy the chicken was. I wish the mayo was spicy mayo for the side though! The plain mayo was a little bland.
The spicy ramen was not super spicy and had just a light kick. I really enjoyed how flavorful and thick the noodles and broth were. For this version, the meat came minced.
Tonkotsu miso ramen - the broth was very rich and creamy and I really enjoyed it. It was almost too rich though, I ended up not being able to finish the broth at the end.
I am excited to come back and try some of their other ramens!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 4, 2024
After so many years, these days, there is no longer a crazy wait for lunch service. Even though the foot traffic may have died down a bit, this is still one of my favorite places in Richmond.
The quality remains the same and the service is always friendly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Dec 11, 2023
It was snowing with rain in the morning. I was hungry as I didn't have breakfast. I looked for a nearby place for lunch with my family in Richmond and found this restaurant. I've been to their joint in Steveston before and this time I visited this location in Alexandria Road.
We ordered three miso ramen and a dish of gyoza. I emphasised total three bowls of ramen and the server still got it wrong... only two bowls were served.
The ramen, as described on the notice, has a rich taste. The broth tasted quite rich with big portion. It wasn't impressive but nothing to complain about.
Fried gyozas were fine.
This place is not very spacious like their one in Steveston. Generally the environment is clean and tidy. There are parking lots nearby and it is very convenient if you go there by driving.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pam S.Kitsilano, Vancouver, Canada058Aug 4, 2024
Cute interior which reminded me of small town Japan. Ramen was tasty and combo offerings are generous as well as affordable! Service was friendly and attentive.

Tiny ramen place which I didn't think I'd even give a second look turned out to be good! Came here for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon and was seated right away.
Staff was helpful and explained the "very confusing" menu even before we started to analyze it.
Ordered the Chicken Karaage - by now, one would know it's my favourite appetizer, also my gauge of a good Japanese restaurant or not. Verdict: it's good but could be better.
Addictive RCMP Ramen was super spicy from the first bite to the last, very good though if you can handle spicy
Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen might be the very basic ramen. No wonder it's labeled "First Time? Try this". Broth is very rich.
AeSoba Soupless Ramen: it's a staff favourite so decided to give it a try. It has very little sauce or broth. As it is rich and thick, it coats the noodles well and give it its flavor. I think this might be the star of this meal!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 7, 2023Updated review
I returned as I had intended to try the rcmp ramen.
A number of things were different this visit so I'd like to mention those.
Last time the ramen took a while to prepare even though the restaurant was 25% full, today the ramen came quickly even though the restaurant was 75% full. The noodle was also prepared just right (a tad softer than last visit's). Service was good as usual, prompt and attentive.
The ramen broth was decently thick, the red color is deceptive in that it's not as spicy as it looks, which is just fine as it was still spicy enough for the average Vancourite, but a tad less spicy than the typical "moderate" found in most restaurants in Vancouver. There's always the side (complimentary) chilli oil if you wish. I really liked the RCMP but like their signature dish, it lacked sufficient toppings. In this case green onion and I think pork (?) bits. I'd guess that toppings would need to at least double to make this a respectable ramen dish that would be offered in Japan.
How would one justify how much topping is enough? There should be enough topping to last the entire bowl of noodles, especially the pork bits, because they're heavier they sink so it's normal to have to fish for them. I'll again refer to Ramen Butcher's signature dish, at the last bite of noodles there's still topping to compliment the noodles. With RCMP I kept fishing for sunk topping only to result in just soup.
One day I hope to see more toppings and that would conclude a 5 star dish and experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 29, 2023Previous reviewI had high hopes of this venue because a Japanese friend recommended it. I had the signature ramen and this is my take of its construction (note I've lived in Japan for many years).
The soup, not saucy like other reviewers mentioned- times are tough I'm not surprised the consistency has changed due to that. Taste-wise it was still decent.
Cha Siu- too chewy, this would never fly in Japan. I use Ramen Butcher as a standard as they have fairly high standard in how their ingredients deviate (portion-wise not taste wise).
Noodle- good but every so slightly "too" andante.
Green onion- good, hard to go wrong though.
Greens (torn up spinach?)too little - but I see it was arugula in other reviewer's pictures (again, times are tough)also Arugula or spinach are not typical of a ramen topping...
kikurage mushrooms (two pieces, common in Chinese cuisine- they look like black "ears"), these were served whole. In Ramen in Japan I had never encoutered this, it was always sliced into thin strips, similar to pink ginger. When it's kept whole one cannot blend it into every bite, this detracts from the Ramen experience as a whole. It's like eating a burger that has cheese on the side of the plate rather than inside the burger.
I just noticed on their google menu picture 2021- the mushrooms are sliced...
I've been to a good half dozen ramen shops in Japan and Vancouver this year so I'm surprised this Japanese run venue's preparation of a signature dish to be so off. Anyway, my Japanese friend had the rcmp so I'll try that next. I guess I won't be expecting an authentic preparation but more of a fusion offering.
Service is good, venue is clean. Menu is getting a bit old and the font for description/details are too small but I do like the layout. - Angelique M.Vancouver, Canada60136Apr 16, 2024
Ramen is really good but it was too rich for me and I felt like I needed to eat something else towards the end of my bowl. The vibe is nice and the service is quick!

I love patio season the most! You can never go wrong with their shoyu ramen (soy sauce base). It's simple but a tasty classic. No other place can beat it. If you're feeling adventurous, try the TLC (lime cilantro based clear chicken broth) which is SUPER CLEAN tasting. As a Japanese gal, I highly recommend pairing it with their beer flight (4 cups for only $9). Service is always friendly as well :)
