If you like crispy German pork knuckles, you must try the crispy pork knuckle here. The meat is soft, moist, tender. The skin is super crispy.
The BBQ pork skewers make me think of those BBQ pork skewer in Thailand. These are the two dishes I had and I recommend them both.
Street parking.
Will definitely come back to try the pork cheek dish and also have the crispy pork knuckles again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3024211280Nov 11, 2023
We found this restaurant by accident. It was amazing. The ambience might be a bit run down. But the food was so good.
We had crispy pita which is fired pork hoc. Very crispy and juicy.
BBQ sweet was very flavorful.
We will definitely come back to try other dishes.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 3, 2023
B never had Filipino food before and it just so happens that we were in the area and there is Hapag Ihaw-Ihaw. So why not... I told B that my usual Filipino dish that I always like ordering is the crispy pata. Its my go to and my favorite part of this is the nice crispy skin. We also ordered a side of garlic rice. It was nice touch with our meal. I think next time I will stick with regular rice. The crispy pata was very delicious. It was cooked very different from other Filipino restaurant. The price is slightly cheaper than say if I went to Max. Anyways, they do have combo specials if you are not too hungry or if you want something small.
The crispy pata (large) was enough for two of us. We also ordered the ube cheesecake to go and that was OMG. It was so delicious. I highly recommend getting this. Another go to item that I like getting at Filipino restaurants is definitely the Halo Halo. Unfortunately, they don't have ube ice cream in their halo halo so I decided to skip it.
I will definitely be back again. Food was very tasty.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 24, 2019
I live and work near here but never been to this hidden gem. I was disappointed myself! I should have tried it more earlier.
My Filipino co-worker and me had Sunday dinner and lucky to have explanation by native.
I couldn't choose BBQ chicken or Chicken inasal. We ordered both and decided to share.
Honestly I loved both. Very juicy chicken and charcoal grilled outside. But not hard. Just perfect tenderness.
They tasted similar but inasal tasted more aromatic, rich, deep flavor. Next time I will try it again. Or add on!
Ube cheesecake is good too. But ube flavor was like a hint. Not so strong.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Brent B.Central, Vancouver, Canada3254May 3, 2022
Came here with the guys to grab some lunch today. A bit of a hole-in-the-wall. Been here before a couple of times. Pretty good Filipino food, at least their grilled/BBQ food: chicken, beef and pork combos are pretty good value. The combos are perfect and come with rice, vegetables, and grilled meat of choice. We each had some of each among 4 guys. Very tasty and fairly good portions. Prices have gone up about 10% or so, but to be expected with the huge inflation we are experiencing here in Canada. Rather simple, but quite delicious Filipino food.

Great Filipino restaurant. Authentic food. Love how they do their sisig dish. Small dining area, they're not large so they won't be able to fit large groups (20+). Their ambiance is ok. It's decent.
I don't know what service is like in house because I haven't actually sat in. I've only ordered out. But their service when I call in to order is usually pretty good. The food is usually ready within 10-15 min. So pretty quick.
As for pricing. It is a little on the expensive side at about $16-17 without tips and tax. Seems to be the going rate for food these days for most places unfortunately.
Parking can be a little hard to find. You can try to park in and around the neighborhood with risk. I would not encourage it. There is free parking farther down the street from the restaurant - maybe about a 7-10 min walk. Not too bad. You can park in front of the restaurant. But there are parking limitations for when you can park there, and if I'm not mistaken. Might be pay parking as well. There's not a lot of spots in front of the restaurant. Maybe 3-4 spots for cars. But if you don't mind paying for parking. There is that option available.
Location isn't really close to any transit. So this would be difficult to get to if you're not driving. Closest Skytrain station would be Commercial Drive Station - and that's quite a ways. Looking at probably 20 min to a half hour depending on the time of day and how often the bus is coming.
My breakdown:
Food 4.75/5
Price 3/5
Ambiance 3.75/5
Service 4/5
Location 3/5
Would recommend this place for Filipino food :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 24, 2018Previous reviewSmall location on Victoria Drive. Good Filipino food on the area and the food quite decent. Love their sigsig here! Quiet and respectable atmosphere. Nothing quite special here with regards to the ambiance. The staff here is friendly and nice people. Seems like a family run business. My wife and I come here from time to time when we crave for Filipino cuisine! Parking can be difficult to find around this area. So that's one downside of the location. But other than that. One of the better smaller family run businesses in the city. Recommended to try ou

Okay. So. We came here looking to EAT. We have been walking around all day long and we were super hungry. It took us about 15 minutes to find parking. This was not very pleasant for hungry people! You will have to find street parking and be prepared to walk a little bit if you do not find parking right outside of the restaurant.
Once you get inside, you may have to wait to sit, depending on how busy they are, they are very very limited on seats and tables. There are maybe about 7 or 8 tables and seat like 4 people each with not much room. We had to put 2 tables together, and it felt as though we were sitting with another family lol because they were so close to us.
Although, the workers there are so nice. They try to accommodate you in any way possible. The food is great, and the Ube cheesecake will definitely not disappoint.
Everything we ordered was delicious! We will definitely have to return.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Joseph T.Vancouver, Canada3251364May 30, 2022
Oh my!! Should have come here earlier. My Filipino visitors from Seattle insisted I bring them here as their friends in Seattle highly recommended this rather nondescript eatery - and it was such a great recommendation. I really don't know much about Filipino food but my Filipino host does and ordered the Sisig which they proclaimed as being excellent - both in taste as well as the required texture and crunchiness. Of course also ordered the large crispy Pata which was ever so good - freshly made, super crunchy skin and just the right flavoured meat. Have had too many hard, chewy not-really-crispy pata skin on pork that's like salty jerky that I really enjoyed this perfectly cooked pride of Filipino food! The Lumpiang was nothing special but the skewers were smoky goodness and I wish we had saved some room for dessert - which looked so tempting but we just couldn't manage it. Too bad as I'm sure they're gonna be as good as the meal we had. Recommend Hapag if you want a good intro to Filipino food! You won't go wrong here. And oh, didn't take more pictures as we resorted to eating with our fingers - as befit eating Filipino food - and couldn't much use my phone!

Knowing about most of the Filipino Restaurants around Lower Mainland I must say that Hapag is one of the best restaurants out there if you'd like to have authentic cuisine made for you. The owner is also the chef at this place so he definitely wants to impress his customers.
I do recommend booking ahead of time as it may become busy during dinner time as the seating is limited and they are mostly small square tables. The servers accommodate with what you want and they always help you decide what to order. I have currently tried:
BBQ Squid
Lechon
Pork Sinigang
Crispy Pat (Definitely a MUST TRY)
Chicken Liver (My wife wanted me to try this and it was actually delicious)
Lumpia
Pinakbet.
I will edit this with more information when I next head there.
But this is a place you must try if you are craving a Filipino DishHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
