Juan did good work -mostly fire abatement on hillside but the crew also hand weeded areas not even discussed so went a little beyond the quote, with his crew of 5, so I'd recommend. Will use again for shed painting in the near future.

Juan and his crew were prompt, hard working, and a good price. Juan made sure to go over the plan with me often throughout the project to make sure we were on the same page. They constructed our backyard project properly and without shortcuts. Looking forward to having Juan back out when we are ready for our next phase. Highly recommend.

Juan and JR Landscaping crew did a great job with a backyard patio and flooding avoidance work in my house. It was a challenging job, and it is not the first time his crew delivers exceptional quality with a reasonable price. Thank you!!!

We used this company this Spring for our new construction landscaping.
The owner's work team were great to work with. When they did a few minor things wrong, they came back to correct them, no problem. Later we received a crazy inflated bill for these minor corrections. When we questioned them the owner said it was not their fault. He said either we pay (over 1000k) or he wouldn't guarantee our $30,000 landscaping!
We have never had any issues with any contractors and have always paid out bills.
This was very disappointing and disheartening.
Will never recommend this company!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Blake T.CA, CA044Jun 14, 2024
Juan and his crew did great work building a wood retaining wall and leveling our entire yard so we had a level surface across our yard - this was something that Juan suggested that really made the yard turn out well. The installation of the steel edging, gravel, and sod was done really well. Make sure you are really clear on what will occur on your project. Juan's services were well worth the super affordable pricing he provided. We definitely got our money's worth!

I had quite a bit of work done by JR Landscaping in August 2023. The scope of work included:
* replacing fences
* landscaping part of the front yard
* adding some width to my driveway
* drainage in the backyard
* covering the ground with base rock
* some artificial turf
* clearing a ton of weeds.
I repeatedly told JR from the beginning and during the project, that I was paying for this work to be done to relieve myself from any exacerbation of a lingering severe back pain from an injury. I needed as much weed mitigation as possible. I ran into some issues during the project that, in hindsight, I should have recognized as a pattern of behavior.
1. One of my fences had a 90* turn in it. When JR Landscaping built the new fence, they did not include the section that turned 90*. I pointed this out and JR claimed that there was no turn in the fence. He did not believe me until I produced pictures showing the turn in the fence.
2. When they brought drainpipes in to do the drain, I noticed that it was the lower end black flexy pipe (but not the worst, as JR tried to point out later). I told the job supervisor I wanted the sturdier drainpipe so I wouldn't have to dig it up in 5 years because the plastic failed. The next day, the crew was putting in the cheaper stuff. I talked to JR. He said the supervisor had told him, but he "disregarded my request" (yes, his words). I had to have a conversation with him about it, pointing out that disregarding your client like that is a bad practice and is unprofessional. He seemed to listen and take it to heart. I suspect now he disregarded this advice. He procured better drainpipe, although it cost me more.
3. During the project they removed a lot of dirt to level my yard and get the drainage in. The earth remover ended up putting an eight-foot-long crack in my sidewalk. When I brought it up to JR, he denied it. I once again had to produce pictures to show him I was telling the truth. He claimed that the city would not let them fix it. He further suggested that I tell the city I don't know how the crack got there when I call in for the repair.
4. While the yard looked great right after the work was finished, that did not last long at all. I understand that weeds will still grow. However, about 7-10 days later, I noticed a lot of weeds had grown already. Upon further inspection, I noted that the backyard had no weed blocker under the base rock! There was weed blocker in the front yard (though apparently it had holes in it), so I'm not sure why there was no weed blocker in the backyard. Additionally, in another few days, I noticed weeds were coming up through the artificial turf as well. So clearly no weed mitigation under the turf either. I emailed JR to ask why no weed blocker was put down in the backyard, given what I told him about my spine injury. He never responded to me.
Now, my backyard is completely overgrown again, defeating the whole point of hiring landscapers. Either I will have to hire someone else to come in and fix JR Landscaping's work, or do it myself. I would recommend against hiring JR Landscaping. If you have already hired them, you are going to have to watch them like a hawk.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jane D.Seabrook, TX02Jul 23, 2024
They did an excellent job on my rock bed December 14, 2023; however, it is now filled with weeds. The commercial grade weed block did not work. Waiting on a call back to get a remediation.

These guys are pros. Juan got in touch with me after I asked a few companies on Yelp for a quote and I sent him some pictures of the tree I needed removed. He offered to come out the next day but due to my schedule I could not make it work. We settled on the following Monday morning and he showed with his guys right on time at 7AM! 10 minutes later the tree was gone and they removed the stump and most of the roots as well. Besides getting this done promptly the price was hard to beat. Most places wanted $350 or more to remove a small olive tree. Some had minimum service calls and told me to contact landscape companies. I didn't have any issues at all with Juan, it was simply figuring out when we could schedule.

JR Landscaping built a beautiful wall for us . Professional, punctual, cleaned up daily. I would highly recommend them.
We're bringing them back in spring to landscape the front of our house.
My neighbors were so impressed by their work that they're doing 3 other jobs on the street. Pouring concrete and laying sod .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Randall P.CA, CA02Oct 27, 2023
I contacted Juan and he was working a job so he was out the next weekend to do an estimate. Very fair pricing. I have a good size front yard that was pretty overgrown and a back yard which is on a hill all was overgrown and needed to be tamed. I have also had some minor water seepage problems under the house in last year's rainy season, so he suggested a French Drain to add to my in-place patio drainage system to handle any extra water.
His crew was out the next week to do the work he had originally quoted me 2-3 days to complete but to my surprise he brought a bigger crew and finished everything the same day. Work was done professionally and clean up was outstanding. I will be using his company again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
