There 3 levels of menu, black, silver and gold. We opted for the silver menu coming in at $56.99 pp for weekend dinner. In hindsight, the black menu would have been the best choice. The only differences between the black and silver menu were the addition of a couple kinds of wagyu beef, and of course, the 24$ price difference. Some of the wagyu was great, some of it was terrible-see pictures for reference. After cooking in the sweet and salty sukiyaki sauce, there wasn't much difference between the wagyu and regular black menu beef. We enjoyed our meal but I'm left wondering if anything is made in house. All the appetizers, sukiyaki ingredients and desserts were all pre-made/store bought frozen items. Free parking on second and third floor of the parkade adjacent to the restaurant.

      "Straight-Up Vibes at Kumo Sukiyaki"

Yo, lemme tell ya 'bout Kumo Sukiyaki in Richmond - it's straight-up lit! Step into this joint, and you're instantly teleported to Japan with their dope decor and chill vibes. Now, when it comes to grub, they ain't playin' around. Their menu's packed with legit Japanese eats, but lemme tell ya, their sukiyaki is the real deal. Picture this: tender beef, veggies, and tofu swimmin' in a flavor-packed broth that's straight fire, yo. The chef's attention to detail is on point, and it shows in every bite.

And yo, shoutout to the staff - they're mad cool and hella helpful. They got your back with dope recommendations and make sure you feel like fam from the jump.

But yo, I gotta keep it real - I went HAMon that sukiyaki. I'm talkin' seconds, thirds, maybe even fourths. I was throwin' down so hard, I half-jokingly thought I might single-handedly shut 'em down 'cause I couldn't stop grubbin'. But nah, they held it down like champs.

Oh, and peep this: I stacked those beef plates like a boss and straight-up demolished tons of desserts. From mochi ice cream to matcha cheesecake, they got the sweet game on lock.

So if you're lookin' for a legit Japanese dining experience in Richmond, Kumo Sukiyaki is where it's at. Don't sleep on it, Yelpers.

The sukiyaki broth here is so good! After the first round, you can order most of the all you can eat foods via QR code (except for the meat and drinks).

The desserts are great! They've got Kirkland chocolate covered ice cream bars and matcha ice cream mochis.

We did have some orders of meat come out rather slow, which led us to being a bit confused on if our order was coming (so we should wait) or if we should order more. Which led to us getting full from waiting around.

There's ample veggies, appetizers, and even at the lowest priced ayce, I think there's enough meat to meet your expectations! Drinks (non alcoholic) are all you can drink, but an additional surcharge per person if you want to unlock it.

Free parking in the parking lot next to the restaurant.

Don't know what people give lower scores expect from this place. For $50 dollars, all you can eat beef, appetizers, desserts and drinks. Every time I go, the only problem I have is that I stuff myself to death. Everything is great and valuable. We're very satisfied.

Dined in with my girlfriend on a Sunday evening (we had a reservation) and it was packed enough with hour-long wait times. We ordered the $32.99 AYCE silver menu which includes pork belly, angus beef, and AAA+ boneless chuck flap. All side dishes, rice, udon, sauces and appetizers were ordered via QR code on the phone and meat was ordered through our waiter. Time-wise we received our food relatively fast and had great service - we ordered about 10 plates of the angus beef and combined with the sauces made it absolutely delicious and left us completely stuffed. The soup base costed $17.99, which would be more worth it with a group.

takoyaki, wakame, raw egg(for sauce), angus beef short plate, triple a+ boneless chuck, karai, ponzu, sesame

There are 3 different levels of sukiyaki to choose from. Difference being the differ t grades of meat. Although the day I went only the first 2 levels were available as their distributor for Japanese wagyu was not working so they did not have the Japanese wagyu to serve for the gold tier.
We loved the table side service and the staff were very quick to serve us. They made sure that our order was put through and delivered quickly and that any empty plates we had were cleared from the table.
My only complain is that they ran out of all kids of meatballs which is a staple in any kind of hotpot. We were also there around 4-5 which is pretty early.
That being said since they are newly opened they are also serving bottomless drinks as part of the all you can eat menu.

Amateur hour. Not a real AYCE experience, servers and management severe lacking. AYCE is about generous portions and eating/drinking to your heart's content. When we first flagged someone down after sitting at our table for 15-20 mins, the server wrote nothing down and likely did not submit our order as in the next 15 mins two separate servers also asked us if we were ready to order. Only one of the servers (older lady) was smart enough to write anything down, perhaps more experienced. But overall don't expect anyone to check on you, don't expect your drinks to be refilled, and fully expect to have to flag people down constantly.

For example, we had 3 peach and 1 passionfruit drinks at our table. When it came time to refill, they brought us back 3 passion fruits and 1 peach. Why? Because no one writes anything down nor do they have proper software to track orders and it's generally quite hectic.

Overall the food is decent as is the price for the quality and taste you get. The sides were decent as well like the tako wasabi and ebi mayo. But unfortunately they won't invest in proper training or POS software that can help the team function properly. We saw someone who may have been a manager just standing back and observing while all the servers looked quite stressed. Lot of mistakes and a really slow dinner service.

Had they worked efficiently a lot more diners could go in and out of this place thus generating more revenue but it's a mess. Perhaps worth revisiting in 6 months to a year, but Kumo is going to have to go through a lot of growing pains if this is where they're at now after a few weeks of operation. The concept has potential but is hopeless if management does not reflect on how they need to improve.

The reason I say it's not a real AYCE experience is that you're really at the mercy of the servers as to what you'll get. You can't just order what you want and expect to get it and just the act of ordering is an ordeal because no one cares to ask. Just sloppy overall.
