Mills Peninsula Health Services is one of the most foremost top medical hospitals
      in the United States!
Just recently, I have had radical left breast cancer surgery, and have received the
highest quality of service and medical treatment, that would be recommended highly
      to everyone!

As Catherine Mills-Peninsula and Dorothy E Schneider myself, I am most dedicated
to establishing this prominent medical center as one of the highest top-rated in the
      world!

Located in sunny San Mateo and Burlingame, CA, this medical center on the
Sutter-Health medical center network, is perhaps the forte and creme de la creme
      of the health care industry!

Highly recommended and definitely a fortissimo experience!

My mom recently sustained a pelvic fracture (basically the butt bone from a fall-I told her there is a new meaning to a pain in the butt!). It is quite a painful type of fracture actually. She had a great stay at Sutter Mills Peninsula on the orthopedic floor.

Every staff member we met was wonderful. People helped us that weren't even assigned to her and with a friendly smile. Even the manager (I believe her name was Pat Jones-forgive me, if I get it wrong, I am doing it from a poor memory as it is and didn't get a chance to write the names down). Anyways, she is the manager on the orthopedic floor and she even came into help me move my mom to the bed. Many managers won't even do this calling for help, but she was right in there helping and explaining things about pelvic fractures, the lift devices, etc. She was amazing. It was a great, cohesive team all working with each other that I observed throughout the stay from CNAs, nurses, case manager, etc.

Also noted that the floor was very calm which was peaceful and nice. I have been around many hospitals and many are chaotic, not peaceful, busy and this was very nice. I am sure they were busy but when they were with you, our nurses were very attentive to my mom. All the nurses that were assigned to her were wonderful, capable and had a good bedside manner. I am sorry I did not get every nurse's name, but Marilyn was her day nurse and I think there was a Gina (not sure, but I think I remember that name on the board). Hope the hospital looks up their names on the days my mom was there and give them kudos from us and let them know they are on Yelp!

THANK YOU for as pleasant a stay that we could have given a fractured pelvis! And I am in the medical field, so I know good care when I see it as I come from the best facility (albeit retired early) ;)!

Okay, I changed my opinion about this hospital.

On a sunny Saturday, I visited my favorite Aunt in your ICU. I was there for over four hours. During that time, my niece and I were thoroughly briefed by an RN and Doctors on her condition and care. We watched a bedside ultra-sound. We also spoke to specialists as they came to provide care. Each one spent time explaining their procedures to us. My Aunt was in good spirits, and was happy to have so many visitors.

      Thank you.

Came here to run some tests with my Dad. I had to drop him off at the front. They have a bench where he could wait.

Parking is free, which was nice. The staff were super nice and accommodated my Dad nicely. They really run people through this place

Hospitals. It's often easy to find out what is wrong... so I understand harsh reviews. They are useful & that's great because there is the ability to improve!
Mills has been around for a long time- and yet it is modern, tech-savvy and the doctors and nurses work as a team.
Our stay is at Christmas-time. The most heart-wrenching ‍time to be here. However, we have been happily surprised at the willingness to find out what is REALLY wrong. We are here for a cardiac issue, that means a BP check every 2 hours... that means lights on at 2am and 4am etc, with questions and possibly consultations. The staff and Docs are great! We appreciate their diligence and thoroughness.
The meals are hot, tasty and well-prepared + big variety on menu. Delivered in about 30 minutes / or preorder.
The Room is super clean and comfortable. I was invited to stay with my hubby- wow, a bed was made up for me! Variety oof rooms, clearly marked with cautions like "fall hazard" marked on the door.
Nurse / doctor names are marked on a white board so changes are easy to see.
I am so grateful that everyone explains what they are doing, in a courteous and thoughtful way. I am confident they will figure out the issues, but while that is on-going he is resting peacefully. this is the best place for him to be, safe and calm. Thanks Mills, it's our first time here, and you are super stars.

Good level of care, but facilities need some updating.

We've used this facility for years. The medical care has generally been quite good, but the facility could use a refresh.

For example, this is what the seats look like in exam rooms. Fabric chairs were a poor choice to begin with and they've gotten filthy over the years. It's time to replace these with chairs that are easier to clean and disinfect. The current ones are disgusting.

I'm writing to submit a complaint and observation about my experience with a few of your hospital employees yesterday. I was waiting for an elevator's arrival and when the doors opened, three (3) female employees were standing in the elevator. Out of consideration for their possible exit, I asked if they were going up. I am both an expecting mother and I had my 2 year old daughter and elderly mother in my care so I wanted to be considerate and if they were planning on exiting and not going up, I wanted to give them space to exit the elevator. To my surprise, my courtesy question was met with complete silence and zero response from them.

So I paused for a moment when there was no response and decided to walk into the elevator assuming they were not exiting. That's when one of the employees asked another employee "Why didn't you say anything?" to which she replied with an attitude, "I don't need to say anything" and they started giggling and mumbled some other words under their breath. I wasn't paying close attention because I was so shocked that they would be so rude to react and respond in such a manner. As an expecting mother with a toddler and elderly mother in hand, I was already stressed about having a smooth hospital visit and experience for the day. We came to get our flu shot and this experience absolutely did not help because they made me think that I wasn't deserving of a space on that elevator.

When I came into this hospital facility and environment, I expected much more professionalism and personability from staff. When I think of a hospital setting, my first thought is the quality of care I will receive from beginning to end. During a time when there's another strain of COVID around and we Flu Season is around the corner, we arrived already a bit stressed only to leave feeling worse.

Unfortunately their actions were a disgrace to their work field and environment and made me feel very unwelcome and very uncomfortable to continue coming back to this hospital. My experience at other Sutter Health facilities has been different and great and I definitely did not expect this kind of behavior from this Sutter Health location and your professional staff members.

They exited on the 2nd floor, we got in the elevator at 1pm on Sept 5, 2023.

I know their actions don't reflect all of Sutter's staff however please address this with them because I would hate for any other patients to deal with this type of unprofessionalism and behavior.

My 6 year old was admitted and "treated" by Dr Kenneth Yu on 3/16, he carelessly misdiagnosed my little girl watching her suffer from fever 105 and just dismissing it as, "this is not dangerous" - saying "it's a virus", It wasn't a virus (and tests showed that), it was a UTI, but he didn't bother to even order simple tests to discover that. Because of him, my child suffered for 2 more days for no reason. I can't believe how careless and dismissive he was. And this is with outrageous charges that you get charged. Shame on you, Dr Yu and Peninsula Medical Center. You wouldn't have been less rich if you ordered a simple urine test! **do not take your children here! These people have no clue what to do in pediatric cases **

This is more of a warning than a review. Duplicate charges for procedures done in the ER. Not only do they bill your insurance for the ER copay, but every single thing. Also, beware that some of the ER physicians they use may not be part of the hospital and therefore instead of charges considered as in-network, you will get billed for out-of-network charges. Unfortunately, they don't disclose this and you pay for it later.

Definitely go to an urgent care facility if you can, otherwise, you may see a big bill. And yes, some of their healthcare techs can seem rough around the edges, but their nurses in the ER were much more friendly.

First the upper floors, ICU and hospital are good, but the traveling nurses spend time just chatting on their phones rather than checking on patients. Now the ER needs help. They leave loved ones with high BP for 4 hours and do not give them anything. BP way dangerous level due to anxiety and not why they came in.
WORST was the young light blonde ER nurse at 4 a.m. shift on Wednesdays. She is anxious, paranoid and threatens family members to call security if they don't do as she says over a simple thing like asking why mom was forgotten for an hour. Yes they left her with no care while we went to get her something to eat as they said the ER has nothing to eat or drink? She went off, "Are you blaming me...I just came on shift...I don't need this..." She should NOT be a nurse. It was shocking as we are in healthcare ourselves and retired nurses, and we would never ever treat a patient or family member like that! This gal was off her meds or psychotic. She paged for help from another nurse who had to pull her off the case and calm her down saying please forgive her. Don't you background nurses? Threatening to have a family member thrown out is sick when they did nothing but ask why she was left alone, not even hooked up to monitors as they forgot her!
