After a few months of delays from a contractor, I finally left him and turned to NY Wood Flooring and could not have been happier. An amazing selection, including exactly what I wanted (original contractor never understood what I was looking for), and delivery and installation were within a few days of my choosing the wood. The crew was on time, neat, quick and could not have been nicer. Like other reviewers, Tony came first and did a detailed review of what was needed (replacement from a flood). The work was done on time, the apartment was neat and clean, all of my furniture was back where it was supposed to be, I could not be happier with my floors, and with NY Wood Flooring. Slowly, but surely, I will get more done in my apartment and I will absolutely go back to them for the next project.

I'd highly recommend Anthony and his team to anyone who wants to have their floor done. The experience with them is fantastic.

The project is to install new wood floor in a condo studio (the wood flooring section is around 450 sqt). I previously spoke with several contractors. Some gave me estimates of 3 weeks' work. Some emphasized on how complicated the insurance and certificates requirement it is for condo buildings in Manhattan that it could easily double the price. I got a bit nervous about the project's time span and cost.

Then I read the reviews on Yelp and stopped by New York Wood Flooring's showroom on the 25th street. I got there without an appointment (I later noticed it in Yelp that an appointment is recommended) 10 minutes before they closed on that day. Sandra welcomed me in with no problem at all. After I told her my preference of the type / color / width of the wood floor, she showed me various styles, laid them on the floor, helped me choose and grabbed me some samples. And she helped me schedule an assessment with Tony, the owner of the company, the following business day.

      Ton
y showed up on time and assessed the entire apartment carefully. He paid a lot of attention to details. He was also the only one who pointed out that the old floor ran in the wrong direction and we need to fix that when installing the new floors. Besides, he was very patient answering all my questions. For everything that the other contractors made it sound like an uphill battle (e.g. The bottom of the closet needs to be cut open to remove old floor and let new floor in. The bottom piece of the closet and base boards need to be re-installed back), Tony's answers were simply "No problem. That we can do beautifully". He was also the only contractor that measured the place in details, did the calculation on site and gave me an estimate RIGHT AT THE SPOT (the others spent from one day to one week just to estimate the price). Then we scheduled a meetup at the office to sign the contract and drop the deposit check the next day. IT WAS THAT SIMPLE. We scheduled the floor to be delivered the next week and the work to start the week after (I was the reason why the work could not start earlier as Tony offered because I had to go on a business trip for a week). And the total estimate of the work is just 3 days. Sounds like a miracle right?

The week before the work began, I was on the business trip in a very different time zone. I was a bit nervous about whether we will get the condo approval for the renovation in time and how the floor delivery would go. Everything went so smoothly. Sandra was very responsive and provided all the paper work correctly and fast.

On the morning when the work began, I stopped by to drop the check. The crew covered the hallway carefully per the building's requirements and were already in full working mode removing the old floor. I stopped by also that night and all the old floor were already removed.

Then I got overwhelmed catching up with work and only showed up 2 days later. I WAS AMAZED. The floor was beautifully installed and finished with very high standards of workmanship. The details are carefully taken care of. I was nervous about the connecting sections with the closet and kitchen cabinets, so I looked at those with my flash light on. They looked so seamless and smoothly transitioned I could not even tell if anyone ever touched those closets/cabinet. And it only took 3 days. Besides, just as the other reviewers mentioned, the crew left my apartment sparkly clean.

      Highly recommended!

Beautifully installed wood floor. Perfect in every detail. Big Thumbs Up! (It looks even better in person than the photo actually)

My experience with New York Wood Flooring could not be better! Had the 30 yr old parquet flooring in my condo replaced due to age and wear and tear. Tony was one of 3 contractors I had come over to give me estimates. While his estimate was the higher of the 3, the other 2 contractors said they would do anything I wanted. Tony gave me some suggestions based on his years of experience, which helped me build confidence in him and his company.

As I choose engineered wood, I would not have to put everything in my apt into storage. The would move the large pieces around and lay the new flooring down. Renovation day arrives and Jeff and his crew come into my apt and take my bed apart in 5 seconds!!! I had to do a double take!!!

I come back at the end of the day after they have left to check on the work. The have the kitchen sealed up and all my furniture in the center of the come covered and taped with a plastic seal so as to keep dust from getting everywhere.

At the end, I am extremely happy with the quality if the materials they provided, the quality of the work and the professionalism of the owner and employees. The cost was on the high end of the estimates I got, but you really do get what you pay for. I will be enjoying my new floors for years to come.

P.s. They didn't remember the exact placement of the furniture when they put everything back. So they put the pieces where they thought it would be. My apt looks even better now with the newly rearranged furniture and the new floors!

      DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

My neighbors recommend I go to the NYWood Flooring showroom on W. 25th Street in Chelsea to look for wood to install in 3 hall closet floors. At the time I had a contractor I was considering and the idea was that I would purchase the flooring and he would pick it up from NYWoodF.

When I got to the showroom and spoke with a gentleman who turned out to be the CEO, Tony Valenti, he said his company would prefer to install the flooring themselves. He also mentioned that he was a full-service contractor. I replied that I doubted that he would want to come to Park Slope, Brooklyn, but he convinced me that the location was not a problem and that he could come out in a few days (on a Saturday) to give an estimate for the work to be done, including bathroom repairs involving the removal of my current tile flooring and the installation of marble, which I also found in his showroom.

Mr. Valenti arrived on time; I had an estimate by Monday; I decided to use him rather than the contractor I was almost set on using. NYWood was very quick to provide me with a contract and all his papers which I needed to file with my co-op for permissions. By early June we set a start date of July 21. So far, so good.

Four working days before my contractually scheduled start date, I received a call from Mr. Valenti...and here began the stories: he could not start my job because they were THREE WEEKS behind on their current job; one of his employees was sick; another employee was scheduled to begin vacation on July 21...and it was now problematic that I lived in Brooklyn...and he would be happy to return my deposit. I WAS FURIOUS.

My first question was WHEN my job could be rescheduled: I was offered a start date of August 11: FOUR WEEKS from the day this conversation was taking place. I pointed out to Mr. Valenti that if his current job was SO FAR BEHIND SCHEDULE, surely he was aware quite some time before placing his call to me, 4 working days before the start of my job! I pointed out that if Brooklyn were not a problem in early June, it made no sense that Brooklyn was a problem 4 days before my start date. I also pointed out that it made no sense to claim that an employee was going on vacation because that reflected badly on management's ability to plan employee vacations around their signed contracts. And, the fact that an employee was ill may have been true, but without details, why was I supposed to take at face value that this employee would not be available to start a job the following week?

The only thing that makes sense is that Mr. Valenti came upon a bigger, more lucrative job and had no compunction at all about screwing me. Since I was going to be out of town for 2 weeks beginning August 11, his offer of rescheduling my work was unacceptable, as was his offer to commence at some other date due to my personal scheduling issues, something of which Mr. Valenti was well aware when we were discussing possible start dates in early June. I simply HAD to have the work done during the course of either late June or late July: he chose late July.

Bottom line: I am not having any work done at all thanks to Mr. Valenti and NYWood Flooring since it is MUCH too late at this date for me to retrench and find another contractor to do the work this summer. At least I got my deposit back! This was a very BITTER and DISAPPOINTING experience for me and I would caution anybody who is thinking of using this business,

We just had a really fantastic experience with New York Wood Flooring on the installation of our hardwood floors in our Manhattan apartment. The owner, Tony, visited twice in order to assess the project and then to review all the details with the foreman who would be onsite. From the beginning, we could see that Tony was truly committed to very high standards of workmanship, and very thorough about what the project would entail. Needless to say, his crew showed up on time (to the minute) and completed the entire apartment in two days, which was amazing since this included demolition, removal, installation and molding. The other contractors we spoke with said the project would take a week or more. The floors look really beautiful as they were installed with precision and attention to detail. Even the places you can't see, like closet interiors, were completed without fault. On top of this, the workmen left our place sparkly clean. Special kudos to Enrique, for leading a terrific team, and Alex, for his expert and creative craftsmanship in staining and finishing the closet transitions. Highly recommended!

Hired New York Wood Flooring for a staining and sanding job in April 2014 after meeting with Tony, the owner of the business. The work was completed on-time, at the quoted price, and the result was 5-star. I would highly recommend them for any floor related job.

We had 1 week time window to get our new apartment wood floors sanded, repaired and refinished. We called and spoke with Sandra and Tony who were professional, courteous and very responsive to our situation. They came out and gave us an estimate and where able to get the work started and satisfactorily finished that same week. They were more expensive than other 1-man type shops but brought a crew in to get the job done. They had a crew lead who managed the job, was respectful of the apartment and building and left the apartment in clean shape. We highly recommend them!

We had our entire apartment hard wood floor replaced. We got estimates from 2-3 contractors; Tony from New York Wood Flooring, who I believe owns the company, came personally and took measurements. He was on time, professional, helpful, and informative. He invited us to the showroom where we picked out some very nice dark hard wood, and selected a herringbone installation pattern. Tony and Sandra did all of the necessary approvals with my building. They were easy to work with and communicate. The most important thing is that the work began on time - it took 3 days, and his workers moved all of my stuff around from room to room. The wood looks amazing and the craftsmanship was impressive. We also bought kitchen tiles separately, and his workers installed those tiles and the saddles. That took 2 more days. After just one week, we had brand new flooring through the whole apartment, the place was a bit dusty but to be expected. All of the furniture and stuff was in the original locations. And we are very happy with the work product. Also, the price might have been a hair more than others, but reasonable, especially given the convenience and quality. I would trust these guys to do my next flooring project.
