I am probably the most recent victim of this atrocious parking lot. I parked there on 7 October for the Fleet Week air show. My friends and I had our suitcases in the trunk. Reading Yelp reviews on a parking garage was the last thing on our mind. Anyways, when we returned to the car, I noticed that the suction cup for the GPS was not in the console. There was no broken glass like some previous folks had.
I asked my friend in the back seat to see if our bags were in the trunk. When he said no, it was an awful sinking feeling. All three of our bags were gone, as well as three camera tripods. We were only a block away when we noticed it, so we went back to the garage immediately.
Upon getting back to the garage, the security guard said that they heard the horn going off on the top level. They went upstairs and saw the thief in our car, and he said he was with us. The guard ended up chasing him off, but not before he got my GPS, two camera lenses ($1200 total), and my friend's tripod. The guard then took our bags out of the car, and put them in the office downstairs.
After hearing this story, we drove to the Lombard Street garage, where our luggage and items were moved to. The toll booth cashier gave us back our belongings. I immediately went into the hidden bottom compartment of my suitcase and found my laptop was still there. At the end of the day, it was more important to get the computer back, and not so much the lenses.
The police didn't come out, nor would they, because it was an auto vandalism. I had to drive 30 minutes away to file a police report, which will do literally nothing to get me my equipment back. Please save yourself this potential inconvenience, and just park at a much higher rated garage. At the end of the day, I am almost certain that the guards are in on this little theft ring. I made a stupid error in judgement and it cost me dearly.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Peter C.San Francisco, CA601227179Jul 6, 2023
We love the Pierce Street garage, or MFPG as we call it in my family. :-P
I'd give it 5 stars for location, but it loses a star for requiring folks to wait in line to pay at the terminal instead of paying via app. I don't know why the SF parking app isn't supported, but it seems like it should be.
The bigger reason for star deduction is the too-frequent thefts and damage. Too often we walk through the garage and see shattered glass on the ground or a car with a recently broken window. No bueno.
But again, the location is killer so there's that...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kol T.Spring, TX1014952Jul 2, 2023
Just another smash and dash victim. We're pretty sure whoever does it, lives across the street or stalks the hotels... waiting for the opportunity. It's the kind of place you'd only want to park when you're willing to keep your windows down, doors unlocked, and your trunk popped.

Small, dark and apparently a target for car break-ins, this grinch of a garage doesn't give you a break even on Christmas Day: Meters are 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
I've parked here enough times that my city Spidey sense tells me to snag a spot close to the entrance (if you're that lucky):
This garage offers an unlimited buffet to thieves wanting to smash and grab or hey, just take their time as they peruse your glove compartment undisturbed, in a dark corner or upper deck where your unfortunate car sits.
And, I've seen DPT carts roll in for a patrol every time I park or return to my car. This garage must be a goldmine for handing out parking tickets like flyers for two-'fer one buffets in Las Vegas.
And like the House, the DPT usually wins.
Sigh.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - Jul 20, 2018
Well, my car didn't get broken into, but I feel like I was playing Russian Roulette and my windows were the bullets.
I just had to park here this one time...but you can bet my mind wasn't on the drink, date, or meal I had while I was parked here.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - T K.Charlotte, NC015522Nov 13, 2019
Don't ever park here! I parked for two hours and had my car broken into. There was a security guard there who did absolutely nothing to stop it. When I confronted him about the robbery he gave me conflicting information about where he was. There were belongings on the ground from another parker who had their stuff stolen and destroyed. I called San Francisco police to report the robbery and they were completely unsympathetic and unwilling to send anyone there to investigate. No wonder they have a crime epidemic. If you park here your car will be broken into. The security guy who works here is probably complicit.

DO NOT PARK HERE!!! Sucks to read the horror stories from the reviews here. I was lucky to avoid the vandalism. Early Friday morning I parked my car at this garage and decided to stay inside before work. I saw a car drive in slowly and park at the far end of the garage. He gets out and starts jogging towards my car. Since all of my windows are tinted he didn't see me. As soon as he turned his flashlight on and look inside my car, I started the engine and honked my horn. He ran off saying "Sorry..Sorry" and drove off.
I decided to park on the Pierce St (right across the street from this garage) where my car would be more visible. 20 minutes later that same car drives into the garage AGAIN!!! I found a parking attendant who works there and told him the whole story.
This guy was a joke. All he said was "Oh yeah those guys are always here".."This is the way they make a living".."I'll tell my boss" C'mon MAN!!! If you know that this type of shit is going on you need to report it to the cops. If you see this car lurking around DO NOT PARK HERE!!!
Too bad I can't give this garage a negative 5 stars. One more time....DO NOT PARK HERE!!!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Ashish Y.Sunnyvale, CA1103Apr 6, 2016
NO SECURITY CAMERAS!!! BE AWARE OF MOFOS BREAKING INTO YOUR CAR!!! DON'T LEAVE ANY VALUABLES!!!!
Had parked here for an hour on April 3 2016. Lift gate glass smashed and broken into.
Lost my Camera bag, friend's laptop bag with Passport :(
Usually I make sure I take all my valuables with me but this time we were in hurry and totally forgot about the bags.
Disappointing part is people saw the incident happening and reported the police immediately with suspect description but Police did not show up even after waiting for 2 hours.
Had to drive to Police Station for file a report.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kevin B.Mill Valley, CA387911718905Sep 22, 2016
Yikes! I was astonished to read all the one-star reviews for this parking garage. It seems like a number of Yelpers have had their cars broken into here over the years. That's horrible. And clearly, the parking lot owners should employ a better security system.
Fortunately, I've never had anything happen to my vehicle here (knock on wood). Then again, when I park here, it's usually in the afternoon or early evening, and for no longer than an hour.
It's an undeniable fact - parking in San Francisco sucks. Especially in the Marina/Cow Hollow area. Finding street parking is like winning the lottery. So when I do make my way to Chestnut Street and don't want to drive around for hours looking for parking, I just duck into this garage. 9 times out of 10, I find a parking spot right away. I feed the meter with quarters, and then I'm on my way.
But like I said, maybe I've just been lucky. After reading these other Yelper reviews, I might think twice about coming here.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Sandi L.Sacramento, CA16407Oct 10, 2016
I parked here on a Friday, midday on October 7, 2016 for fleet week to see my blue angels fly... I left to go pay and came back to the car. I sat in the passenger seat getting myself ready to leave the car and have fun for the day. A man came up to the driver door window and raised his hand about to break the window when he noticed me in the car. He backed away and then I locked the door. Within two minutes he was driving away in a stolen white suv with no driver side window (he presumably smashed it to get in) and the security guard was lying across the hood, holding on and yelling at the driver to stop! Security guard slid off the side of the car and maced the crook to no avail, driver/crook drove off with the car.
DON'T PARK HERE! Also, don't leave ANYTHING visible in your car, not sunglasses, a hat, a jacket, nothing! I will park on the street from now on.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
