Came here for breakfast while I was in town, it's in Gastown off Hastings so it was about a 8 block walk for me but it was worth it. It's right around the corner from Meat & Bread sandwich place.
Wasn't too busy when we came by, it was nice & chill relaxing morning vibe inside. Oh my, the display is quite spectacular, so many sweet and savory items to choose from. It was definitely tough to make a decision. After a few minutes or so, our life decision was made and we got the Bacon & Egg Brioche thing. It was nice & savory, cheesy, egg-y, bacon-y as the name suggests.
We also decided to get something sweet as well and chose the Lemon Curd thing, looked like a lemon donut. It was nicely made, dusted in fine sugar, crisp on outside, fluffy on inside. It wasn't an actual donut but some kind of hybrid. Lemon curd was super delicious and it satisfied our sweet tooth.
Coffee was tasty as well but not sure what kind they use. Keep in mind, they do not have any flavored syrups to make those fancy latte drinks.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, not too cheerful & perky in the morning because that's annoying when you haven't had your coffee. We all know. Prices are a bit on the high side but everything seems to be homemade and was very good, so I guess it's justifiable. Whatever.
Clear and bus your own table.
Overall, glad we came by to check them out as they've been on my radar for a while.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Liliana L.Norco, CA03Aug 15, 2024

i was curious to try a coconut cake after watching hacks. a colleague had raved about the cakes at purebread, so i decided to see for myself and headed there on a thursday afternoon around 2:00 pm. the display of baked goods was truly a feast for the eyes, with an array of pastries, cakes, and breads artfully arranged. thankfully, it wasn't too crowded--just two ladies in front of me, who were also having a tough time deciding what to get. i could understand their dilemma, as everything looked so tempting. the staff were incredibly patient and helpful, adding to the pleasant experience.
the cakes at purebread looked more like dense, generously iced loaves rather than the traditional, light, airy cakes i usually get. after some deliberation and a friendly chat with the staff, i settled on two options: the coconut buttercream and the carrot cake with vanilla bean buttercream. the takeout box felt surprisingly heavy, a testament to the density of these delicious treats.
of the two cakes, the coconut was my clear favourite. the aroma was wonderful--sweet and inviting, almost like a tropical breeze. the cake itself was moist and flavourful, perfectly complemented by the rich, decadent buttercream icing. the carrot cake, while also delicious, didn't quite measure up to the coconut for me. however, the vanilla bean buttercream added a lovely touch of sweetness and aroma.
overall, the experience at purebread was delightful. the combination of a welcoming atmosphere, helpful staff, and scrumptious cakes made it a memorable visit. the coconut cake, in particular, lived up to the hype and then some, making the trip entirely worthwhile.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 29, 2024
Purebread had it all. Great customer service, so many amazing and delicious choices, coffees and teas of any kind, alternative milk options. It was so good. If you have the chance to go, you should. The pastries were light and flaky. The savory options had great flavor and the sweets were perfection. Enjoyed everything I tried. Would definitely go back, again and again.

Delicious place for pastries! We got the super soft lemon blueberry brioche with icing, ham and cheese croissants, bacon scones and latte were all great. There were so many choices and I can't wait to try the others. The brioche was our favorite. Service was friendly.

The display window with all their breads and baked goods is gorgeous. With so many options it was difficult to decide what to get. The staff seemed to get that bc they were patient as we walked back and forth ogling...wishing we could try one of everything. The latte was perfectly made with a creamy froth and it paired beautifully with a very tasty pumpkin scone. If I lived in Vancouver I would def be a regular at this awesome bakery.

We've tried some really good bakeries while visiting Vancouver, and Purebred was another good one. So many pastry items to choose from that it made decoding difficult. When we asked for recommendations, we were told that their scones and biscuits were popular items that tend to sell out. Scones and biscuits are not a hard sell for me, so that's what we ordered - a cheddar pepper biscuit warmed up and a lemon blueberry scone (so many scone flavors to choose from).
Both the Americano and Cappuccino were perfect complements to the pastries - rich and bold. Both the biscuit and scone were great as well - crunchy outside and soft insides. Full of flavor and moist.
Comfortable spot for us to enjoy our breakfasts before resuming our exploration of the city.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lisa K.Dublin, CA01317Jul 17, 2024
We first walked by Purebread after our (vegan) lunch at Nuba. I could see their display of pastires, but needed to go inside for a closer look and fingers-crossed, find some vegan options. Well, there are a few vegan options, but I'm telling you, get the scones and you will be SO happy. I cannot even explain how much I LOVE their scones. My plan was to visit different bakeries/coffee shops while I was in town, but that plan was derailed after my first bite of scone. Scones are my favorite breakfast/snack/treat and I know from now on I am going to be sadly disappointed with any other scone. Their scones are that good! My FAV was the chocolate-coconut scone, but the blackberry-coconut scone was also delicious. The ladies at the counter knew my order by my second visit! We were there early enough every day so we were able to grab a window seat every morning. The acoustics are nice.
