Breka on Bute Street is a busy cafe with a wide range of selections, from pastries to desserts to sandwiches.
On my most recent visit, I got an iced horchata latte, along with a turkey sandwich following a long bike ride with a friend late in the evening.
The food and drinks are exceptional at a reasonable price.
We sat outside, however, there's seating indoors as well. Just keep in mind this location is very busy, so it might be hard to find a spot!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rahul V S.Old Toronto, Toronto, Canada21237Aug 23, 2024
My partner has a sweet tooth, so when my cousin spoke highly of this place during our visit to Vancouver, we had to try it.
Situated downtown, the place was buzzing with people and we had to wait in queue. The interiors are well lit and spacious but the assortment of items displayed before you keep you glued and simply take your breath away. From sandwiches, cake slices, breads, hot beverages they have a lot. It can be a bit overwhelming with so many options.
We decided to go with cake slices and a sandwich. We ordered:
Tiramisu
Strawberry Shortcake
Tuxedo Truffle
Black forest
Turkey Provolone Sandwich
Each bite took me on a delicious adventure.
The sandwich was well toasted with a nice crunch, the meat was tender and overall had rich flavours of pesto, garlic spread and provolone.
But it was the cakes that blew was mind.
All the cakes tasted exquisite. They were soft, creamy and had the right amount of sweetness. Each bite made me to want more. My favorite was the Strawberry Shortcake -- it was heavenly.
Overall, this was one of my best food experiences in Vancouver
To foodies: Do not miss this place if you are in Vancouver. Must Try.
To restaurant: Amazing cakes. Great service. I'll be back for some more.

Tried two items from Breka Bakery after a long day of adventuring around Stanley Park. We tried the TikTok famous ketchup cookie (yay Canada Day) and a kuffle, which had an interesting description about cream cheese and only cost a little over a dollar. The ketchup cookie was highly overrated in our opinion. At times it tasted like we were eating barf, but the pieces of white chocolate chip were a nice touch. The kuffle was quite good! It was only two bites big but tied us over until the next meal :)
I also loved their interior design and it seemed like a great place for young professionals to do corporate work. They had pretty interesting saddle-like seats which I'd never seen before and they were surprisingly comfy!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 5, 20241 check-in
This spot boasts an extensive array of pastries and sandwiches, but alas, nothing truly captivated my taste buds.

I absolutely loved visiting this place! I visited when I came to BC in February and had been thinking about the London Fog donut ever since! I went to two locations when I came back to BC in May. It was neat to see the different vibes at the different locations. I tried lots of items but the London fog donut was my favorite. If I ever make my way back up to BC I will be back!

We landed In Vancouver late at night. By the time we got to our room, we were dead tired and hungry. Hubby went and got me a turkey panini and lavender lemonade. The sandwich was on wonderful fresh bread and fresh ingredients. Can't remember what Hubby had, sadly, but he loved it!
We ate some other baked treats before our cruise left, and service was always fast and friendly, whatever time of day.
If you're downtown go check it out!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 30, 2024
The place is small with a little seating on the ground floor, some outside seating, and some upstairs seating.
The place seems to always be packed and there's a pretty good line to get their goodies. They have sandwiches, but I've only ever had dessert there.
So many great options! It may be a little pricey, but it's worth it.
The one downside is that it's hard to tell what's in the case until you get up to it, but the staff is trying to keep the line moving and doesn't want you standing around and looking for too long. They might even get a little testy with you...
Still, I'll gladly go back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 18, 2024
We were staying nearby and in town for a show that ended at 10PM. We had a late lunch and were hungry but didn't want a heavy meal. Break to the rescue!
Besides having a lovely array of pastries, sandwiches and coffee drinks, they are open 24/7, which is the best. This location was jam packed, but their order/pay/pick up service system was quick and we were out the door with some quinoa veggie salads, "cretzel" sandwiches, banana bread and a sausage roll. No one was wild about the sausage roll, but everything else was great.
It's a cute counter service cafe with outdoor seating if you are stopping by during the day (though plenty of folks were using the outdoor seating on the mild February night we visited). This place will definitely be on my go-to list during our visits!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 9, 2024
We enjoyed a light dinner of sandwiches and a bakery treat. Food was good. It was super busy and we had a hard time finding a place to sit. It was a little chaotic and challenging to figure out where to order and where to pick up.
