Beautifully prepared and delicious bento boxes, tonkatsu and sashimi. My group ordered two of the sho ka do bento boxes, tonkatsu teishoku, and the 8 kinds (24 piece) sashimi of chef's choice. Additionally, I had a beer, my spouse had a cocktail, and my son had a yuzu soda. All of these were delicately organized and delivered quickly to our tables. The food was also fresh and tasty, and well worth the visit to this Kitsalano location. We came from downtown and appreciated the hospitality and service. Left with full and satisfied bellies, forcing us to take a long walk to recuperate. Would definitely come again.

This is in the popular 4th street shopping area, and while the entrance is understated, you walk up stairs to a host station with comfortable view of the large bar. The washrooms were also clean and up to snuff, which speaks well for the restaurant.

This place is very popular so reservations are highly recommended. Beware a wait even if you do have a reservation as I was seated 15 minutes after my reservation time. The ambiance is very loud as servers relay orders to the sushi chefs through shouting in Japanese. Despite the timing for seating and noise, the food is really what stands out. It's fresh, delicious albeit a bit expensive.

Would come again but make a reservation in advance and call to reserve specialty items (ie. Anniversary menu promo items) ahead of time as that was not specified in social media promos but it was clear on the menu it needed advanced notice.

Best meal we had in Vancouver!
If you are thinking about ordering the bento box (which I highly recommend), you need to call 24 hours in advance! Although there are only 9 items, the attention to detail is amazing and the food profiles are fantastic! You will be full! My husband ordered the vegan box and that was also just as amazing! My husband was the only "non Asian" person eating and the place was packed! Service is outstanding! The view out of the window, not so outstanding (Safeway parking lot), however the inside is beautiful!

My friends and I came here because we've heard so much about it and it was very close to getting five stars! We tried to make a reservation almost a week in advance and still the only time available was late at 8:45pm.

We came pretty hungry because we ate nothing for 8 hours other than coffee from Blenz (which was very good!) so we ordered five dishes. We got

      - Aburi Sushi
      - Jumbo Koji Ebimayo
      - Sizzling Kone Wagyu Garlic Rice
      - Real Crab and Uni Cream Udon
      - Deluxe Seafood Bowl
      - Wagyu Croquette

They gave us pretty big pieces of the Aburi Sushi but I'm not a huge fan of seared fish (my friends wanted to order it) so I probably wouldn't order it again. The fish was very fresh though so if you're a fan of seared fish, it would be a good choice. Some may say that there's too much rice though. And try to eat it right away or it cools down.

The Jumbo Koji Ebimayo was pretty big for a piece of shrimp but very well seasoned. There was a lot of mayo, but I was a fan. Would highly recommend this for an appetizer

The Wagyu Garlic Rice was by far our favorite. The pieces of meat were juicy and well cooked. It came in a stone pot so some of the rice was crisp as well, which we loved!

The udon was just okay in our opinions. It was a bit soupy and there wasn't much crab. It was creamy but also watery

The Deluxe Seafood Bowl had a variety of fresh seafood, but only two of each so it was difficult to share between three people. It came with salmon, tuna, egg, and shrimp. There was a lot of rice though, which we left mostly untouched.

The Wagyu Croquette was probably the least favorite item that we ordered. It more or less tasted like a burger patty with fried potato edges. The waiters were super sweet and offered to split our order into three instead of two.

Lastly, the service here was phenomenal. Our waiter gave us suggestions for what to order, was super attentive about filling our waters, and was overall super kind. All of the employees were super sweet

      Tips:
      - Book a reservation well in advance! When we got here, many people were waiting in line at the door because they didn't make reservations
      - If you are a big sashimi fan, I would recommend getting the sashimi platter over the seafood bowl. Most of the seafood bowl was sushi rice which we didn't eat much of

      Wow.. just wow.

It's really hard for me to give a place 5 stars but Raisu definitely deserved it.

The Hokkaido scallops with the kelp and shiso sauce was such an amazing starter. It was on the house too!

The cocktails were also well made and they use fresh juice also! Definitely one of the better Japanese style cocktails I've had so far.

The deluxe seafood bowl is probably one of the best chirashi style bowl I've ever had in any Japanese style restaurants. The fish was so dam fresh.. the sweet shrimp literally a chefs kiss.. I haven't had fresh sweet shrimp like that in a while and the quality really shows.

The uni pasta was okay I honestly thought I've had better in LA at marugame Monzo but it is very close. I kinda thought the huge ass bowl gimmick was a little tacky but I get it. Also the extra noodles are only a couple dollars more! Highly recommend if you're starving!

The steamed egg with uni is like a chawanmushi. The texture was super silky and smooth + the uni gave it another depth of flavor. Smooth, buttery, crunch from the veggies, saltiness from the salmon roe etc. would highly recommend!

Service was amazing and the design layout of the restaurant felt so hip and modern. If you're visiting from out of country you definitely need to put Raisu on your bucket list! Honestly the best restaurant I've had so far in Vancouver.

Came with a group of 5 and was seated at a kotatsu which was so warm and cozy! It did get a little hot but it was easy to take the heated blanket off.

Ordered the yuzu cream cheese cubes which were amazing - i loved the slight yuzu flavor and the texture was perfect. There was a promo when we came which gave us free scallops which were also pretty good - even though I'm not the biggest fan of scallops. I ordered the pork cutlet curry and the serving size is huge! The flavor was exactly what I was hoping for.

Other people in my group got the uni cream udon and sizzling stone beef steak hitsumabushi which they said was tasty as well. Would love to come again

Since I will be spending 2 days and one night in Vancouver before heading back to San Francisco, I want to plan my meals wisely as there are so many good eats in Vancouver. Our first meal is Raisu and it absolutely blows our mind with this place - ambience, service, and food - all 10 out of 5!!

I made the reservation ahead of time and ordered two bentos for our party of 4. We all enjoyed the bentos very much in terms of taste and presentation.

We also ordered a bunch of other items and they are all 5/5. Bluefin tuna, wagyu croquettes, pork cutlet curry udon, Agadashi tofu, and a stone pot rice dish. They are all amazingly plated and absolutely delicious. We were all too full to order dessert. . Next time. We will pace ourselves and leave room for it.

At the end of the meal, they bought over a little cream pudding dessert for my birthday. It's so cute! She took a picture from her iPad and helped us to take a picture from our phone. She even printed two copy of the birthday pic in Polaroid for us - one for me and one for my friends. Such a nice and gracious gesture, how could I not rate it 10 out of 5?!?

If you are wondering if you should visit this place or not, I would say you absolutely MUST go as you will have a happy tummy and memory of this meal. Two big thumbs up
