Perfect spot for ramen on a chilly day. I've had a lot of ramen in my life but this soup was the best I've had in a long time. Very creamy feeling. Super fast service

Recommended to me by two people, Ramen Kounotori did not disappoint: their signature taipan broth is creamy and flavourful, the noodles are straight and chewy (reminiscent of Kyushu style ramen, I think it is), and the toppings are in higher proportion than many other places. The bowl volume itself is only medium, but plenty to get full on, and for $15-16 very reasonable.

The onsen don add-on for $2.50 is excellent value if you fear you won't be full from the ramen: sous vide egg with torched diced chashu and scallions, over rice with a sweet soy sauce. None of the components were necessarily "wow", but together it's a satisfying bowl. After the ramen, though, I was completely overstuffed with the rice, so much so that it was uncomfortable.

The store decor is nice and airy: on nice days, the whole front of the restaurant opens up so the loft-style interior feels al fresco.

Service is great, served with a smile, and just ... overall pleasant.

We went there for lunch and I really like the bright & open space. The staff seated us and was engaging & attentive throughout our meal.

We had the Tori Paitan & Tori Shio ramen. The ramen was good but the highlight was the clean & savoury broth...simply delicious.
For an extra $2.50, get Onsen Tamago Don
      You definitely won't regret it!

It's been awhile since I had bowl of ramen. Walked in on a weekday just after lunch and there were lots of seats.

      The order:
      - Tori Paitan: A solid bowl of ramen. Tori chasu (sous vide) is super tender and the broth is flavorful, without feeling or tasting heavy.
      - Tori Karaage: Great portion for the price served with fries and an additctive sauce; however, both the wings and fries were fried too long!

Tip: The creamy broth is where it's at. If you're hungry, order extra noodles or rice for $2 to enjoy with the broth. Barley tea is served in place of water - great for summer!

Easily top 5 best ramens I've had in my lifetime! Broth immaculate texture and flavor. Buttery chashu & stern and flavorful chicken. Classic soba noodles. Egg was alright, felt like it could've been better, but the broth made up for it! Dope modern vibe, in and out in 15 minutes.

I walked in just after noon and it was empty but filled pretty quickly. Service was prompt and food comes quickly.
It's a small menu focused all on Paitan's - chicken broth. That seems to be the rage in town and I'm all for it. Healthy and creamy, the special thing about this broth (I had the plain paitan) is that it appears frothy and bubbly at the beginning, giving a mystical look. The broth is really really good. Creamy rich yet not too thick. I would say it might be better than the broth at Maruhachi which I hold as the standard for Paitan broths.

The noodles are thin and done well. Not much ingredients in the base but I liked the mushrooms and touch of green onions. The egg is ok, it's runny enough.

Overall done extremely well and I'd definitely come back. The bowl is slightly small but I don't think enough to distract.

Stopped by on a weekday night and definitely did not expect to stumble upon my new favourite ramen place in Vancouver. I ordered the tori paitan ramen and was blown away - the broth is rich and creamy, and the chashu piece (half hidden in the broth) was huge! I especially loved the chicken slices and the caramelized onions. Every bite had something different but every component in the ramen impressed me. So far we have come here at least another 5 times and their service and quality never disappoint. If I could add another star for the immaculate music and vibes inside the restaurant, I would!

(Protip: if you get the tori paitan, order a side of spicy tare and mix it into the ramen. It becomes a totally different but still delicious broth)

Finally tried out Ramen Kounotori. It took over the space from the short lived Old Bird.

We dropped in on a late Friday afternoon (1:15pm). Service was friendly but slow. Enjoyed the jug of cold hojicha brought to the table. Menu is short and sweet with four types of ramen.

      - Plain tori paitan ($13.25) - chicken broth was creamy yet light. Different than Maruhachi Ra-men's tori paitan broth. Thin noodles were decent but wanted them firmer.
      - Tori shoyu ($18.25) - chicken/seafood broth was nicely balanced. Noodles were thicker, but again, wanted a chewier bite. Preferred the tori chashu (sous vide) over the chashu.

Always nice to have more ramen options but portion was on the small side. 3.5 stars

      Ramen on the Main...

I have passed by this place countless times but never stop by to give it a try until recently.

This place is located along the Main Street strip, among many little shops and restaurants. There are pay street parkings available outside and surrounding areas.

Upon entering, there is a full bar located to the left and tables and chairs to the right. And I believe the kitchen is located on the 2nd level? Overall, a slightly little different layout than your average ramen joint.

      Here were the food I ordered;

      1. Tori karaage (house made soy sauce Marinated deep fried chicken wings). I have a little sentimental love for this way of deep fried chicken wings cause of personal reasons. A light crisp tasty skin, juicy right to the middle. Great drinking snackers.
      2. Tori ramen. The pork chashus were tender and nicely seared, the chicken chashus however were a bit dry, the broth wasn't hot enough and a bit too creamy. It's nice to have a rich soup but also it needed to be balanced with everything else otherwise it's too much and will be like drinking a bowl of butter.
      3. Tori shoyu. The blending of all the soy sauces and 2 different broths weren't harmonized, creating a not much desired taste. And the rest was the same as the bowl of Tori ramen.

It's a decently nice casual and comfortable dining atmosphere especially with the high ceilings. The service here was friendly and decently okay,

As for the food, I really enjoyed the chicken wings. But for the ramen, I was a bit disappointed? The broth was a bit overly creamy which made it harder and harder to eat as time went on plus the broth wasn't hot enough so it was even worse.

Overall, this place has to find a better balance of the chicken broth so it's actually rich and flavourful to savour to not a struggle to finish. Unfortunately didn't make it to the main ramen place for me.

A new ramen spot just along the busy part of main street! We went to visit during a car-free day during dinner time and it was just slightly busy, with consistent groups going in and out. I love the openness of the restaurant with their large windows. The interior design was also really cute and aesthetic with their logos.

We were seated after probably a 10 minute wait - much of that waiting time was for waiters to clear the tables as they seem to still be slightly understaffed.

Not many items on the menu - I went with the Toro Paitan Ramen ($18.25). Something I'd like to note is that the price of the ramen is on the more expensive side, but it does come with 2 types of cha siu and a soft boiled egg. This would put the price in par to other ramen restaurants if you were to get the same toppings.

The first thing I noticed was how deep and strong the chicken broth was! It literally tasted as if you were drinking chicken broth that was undiluted. To each their own, but I think it was just slightly overpowering for me. I would prefer if the broth was a little more creamy in addition to the strong chicken taste. I do love that the noodles that were cooked perfectly, and both cha siu pieces were soft and tender. Portions were just right for me, but I am a small eater. They did have the option to add noodles if needed though.

Would probably come again if I'm in the area!

Ramen Kounotori offers a simple menu of ramen noodle bowls. There are 8 bowls to choose from. Their broth is made with chicken or chicken and seafood. I opted for the creamy chicken broth which comes with pork and Chicken slices, kikurage, green onion and egg. A decent portion size but on the more expensive side for ramen. Flavours were good and noodles had a nice texture and taste.
