It's a rare authentic Japanese bbq at bc. Must go! The chicken bbq is so delicious, sake is a plus!

Good food, great wine. The interior was really cute. Service could be slow when they are packed.

It was a loved one's celebration dinner and they picked this spot to visit. I hadn't heard of this place before but we found out they're part of the Zakkushi group. There was a large variety of food and drinks! We enjoyed many snacks alongside some beer (Sapporo) & sake (but forgot to note down the name of the sake - oops).
The restaurant is decorated with a lot of sake bottles and even the washrooms had a lot of sake labels or bottle caps. It was a neat touch. We received great & attentive service and the vibe is energetic but cozy. The food was a little slow to come out but it was quite tasty and fresh so we didn't mind too much!
Some of our favourites were the Uni miso hotate ($18), beef yuke ($18.50), ikayaki ($18), uzura maki or quail eggs wrapped in sliced pork skewer ($4.10), and the negitongue skewer ($4.70).
The food is more on the pricy side since they're also smaller portions, but it's a nice spot for a special occasion!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 17, 202311 check-ins
Price/quality (4/4): I've been here numerous times and I've never been disappointed. They have a lot of interesting dishes (mostly small plates) that are rather difficult to find at other izakayas in Vancouver. If you're an adventurous eater, there will be something for you. If you just want the usual Japanese pub fare, they have plenty of that too. Be sure to ask for sake pairings--their list is quite extensive.
Service (1/1): Service has always been friendly and effective.

Went back with the hubby in October 2023 and had a fabulous dinner.
We tried so many different items, and I forgot to take pictures of most of them! The food was really good (fresh) and great regional variations to try beyond the typical stuff you get in many Japanese restaurants.
The focus on sake and being able to try most sake for only $5/sample is a fantastic way to find something new.
The service is excellent! The staff are very friendly and helpful and are happy to tell you about their hometown or personal favourite sake and food items on the menu.
I'm really shocked it's not busier!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 31, 2023Previous reviewI popped into Hashigo for a quick lunch in mid-August and was blown away by the quality! Not surprising, as they're part of the Zakkushi family.
The food and sake were excellent quality, and while it's not a budget place, I definitely felt like I got fantastic value. I can't wait to go back for a full dinner experience! - Oct 27, 2023
My friend took me here for Happy Hour and loved every minute of my visit.
This is tapas style we so ordered a bunch of items to share and added on 2 Pairing Plates (3 small appetizers & 3 well-matched pairing sake) which was a great deal at HH for $28.
The highlights for me was the grilled cod, takoyaki, aburi shime saba, zangi (fried chicken) and the eggplant. Average for each person was $55 with tips and tax.
Great CS, relaxing atmosphere, and well-plated and tasty dishes. Will certainly be back again. Also loved their clean bathrooms and offering toothpicks and little cups to rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash. Their menu changes seasonally. Fridays and Saturdays open till 1am so great for late night bites. As it's on Granville street, parking can be difficult but metered parking on the side streets.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 19, 2023
Great place my friend recommended to me. Came here for the cute ceramic ramen bowl, coming back again for all the delicious food. 5-6pm happy hour. They open at 5pm.
I am very happy with the service and food here. I think it would be even better if you loved sake. A lot of sake infused selection.
I suggest coming either in groups of 2-4. Pretty small place.
Everything was good... but top 3 highlights for me tonight:
1) sake cod
2) zangi (I taste sake in this too )
3) sake ice cream
The tasting menu is so good that it will leave you feeling too full to move, but very satisfied.
Servers were super nice too!

Very disappointed. Service was ok however foods are not great at all. Fish wasn't fresh. Portions are very small compare with price. Very very disappointed by Yelp reviews

I was in Vancouver for only 2 nights. The food was so good the first night, I went back the second night to try some of the other snacks and sake on offer. Many excellent sakes beyond the sampler flight. The Oden was a nice find. Service was excellent. The staff was attentive, not stifling. Seems popular with the hip and young. Dim lighting was great for ambiance but not so great for my tired eyes. Had to pull out the phone flashlight. Definitely go back next time I'm in town again.
