Serge A Lot

There is a reason this place has so many 5 star reviews - Sherri (and her husband) run an amazing business. I brought in my grandma's old (not vintage) White sewing machine. It is very sentimental to me but it was in bad condition- seized up and falling apart.. literally. :(
Sherri was honest and said she wasn't sure if she could fix it, but a week later I got a call from her cheery voice letting me know she worked her magic on my machine. She is so kind and super helpful! She will give you all the best tips and information to help you run your machine its best! I recommend her business to anyone seeking guidance and help!

In the past I've had great experiences with Sherri, the owner. She was always very helpful and friendly. Sadly, Brad, the co-owner, is either a jerk or was having a bad day. I brought my machine in for repair, and he was incredibly condescending. He pointed things out and would ask me what I thought was wrong with it--the bobbin holder, the tension, the thread I was using, and on and on with a "See? Look what you've done" shaming approach. I understand that being in retail is hard, but if he's going to be the face of the business, he should think twice about how he treats his customers.

If Sherri's at the helm, go in and get your serge on. If Brad's there, you were warned.

if you live in the SF bay - this is the sewing store you dream about. I purchased my babylock destiny 2 and triumph from Sherri. I purchased my daughters machine from her as well. I will purchase all my machines from her because she does the impossible. she gives one on one customer service and great advice. just today she explained over the phone why I was struggling with some pre programmed stitches. it was a simple fix (I had turned on width control) and now my machine works as new. sewing is my stress relief, and Sherri makes sewing even more enjoyable. seriously, what ever you need from the sewing world - Sherri is who you call. her husband and daughter are also awesome.

A spectacular find for a person in need of sewing machine repair! I had never had my old Singer machine maintained or overhauled, and after years of use, it had broken parts, started making funny noises and was beyond time to be repaired. I found Serge A Lot through Yelp and due to high ratings, decided to give it a try. Sherri was friendly, knowledgeable and professional as we set up a time for me to bring the machine into the San Francisco location that same day. Her husband Brad greeted me with a friendly, professional customer service attitude. He said he could have the machine fixed up in a week, and I was pleasantly surprised when, less than a week later, it was ready!

The sewing machine runs smoothly, as if it were brand new! Thank you Serge A Lot! I'll be back for routine maintenance. Exceptional, friendly, professional, customer-oriented service.

Another 5 stars for Serge A Lot. When my 1970's Husquvarna sewing machine stopped working properly I emailed them about a repair...and got a phone call five minutes later telling me not to use it (for fear of further damage). Impressive response time!

When I finally dragged the 40-lb sewing machine beast in, Sherri was optimistic, but it turns out that it wasn't fixable. The part was broken and replacements were not available. I appreciated their honesty, and for $25 to look at it, the price seemed fair.

It looks like they have a great selection of sewing machines in the shop, and after the service I received on the repair side, I would happily make the drive here again to purchase a new machine.

Recently had my ancient sewing machine repaired and then brought my 28-year old Miele vacuum cleaner in for maintenance. All I can say is that Sherri and (I think his name is) Brad are fantastic!!!! The old vacuum cleaner now has more suction power than I ever recall it having when new!

Amazing service. Over delivered. I first left my machine at Wee Scotty, was told it would be done or at least looked at and evaluated in a week. After two weeks they hadn't touched it yet. Called Serge a Lot and Sherri kept her shop open so I could drop it off. It was done on a day, as good - almost better - than new. And when I picked it up she showed me features I never understood. Thanks guys!

When my grandma's 25 year old Elna stopped working I called Serge A Lot to see if they could help. They kept their shop open late for me to bring her machine by. Sherri gave me a quote for evaluation of the machine, and although I decided not to get it fixed, the experience was very positive.
Sherri is deeply knowledgeable about nearly every sewing machine and it really shows! I appreciated all the information she gave me about my grandma's broken machine and the other machines she has at home.

I will be bringing my grandma's other sewing machines to Serge A Lot for service when I get the chance. If we end up buying a new one I will also get it through Sherri - her instruction and recommendations are invaluable. This business and the people that run it are true hidden gems; there just aren't people that know so much about sewing machines around anymore. Not to mention that they are super nice people.
