The food is really, really expensive relative to other restaurants in Vancouver. I got a burger today, it was $23.99 for the plain burger and $3.95 extra to add bacon (not sure how much the cheese would cost). So a bacon cheeseburger is going to set you back probably $30... Which makes this probably the most expensive burger in the lower mainland. What was extra disappointing is that the burger meat is totally overworked, resulting in a tough, chewy patty... No thanks.

Fries are cut extremely thin, so they're overcooked.

Next time I'm looking for a burger on this block, I'll head across the street to White Spot which is cheaper and better.

Have you seen Back To The Future?

Walking into this place was like going back in time, and I'm not just referring to the charming decor, but also the genuine service and the great menu.

Ok here it goes....these days I find that when I eat out I can't escape the reality of 2023 dine out. Which is what?.....well....paying more for less and having a robot serve it.....half the time luke warm.

This place reminded me of a time before capitalism took over, before the internet where you had to actually...yeah....make eye contact and smile at another human being, before paranoia was an underlying theme. Ok.. getting a little sidetracked.

The menu was awesome. They have plenty of everything. My go-to breakfast are Benny's and they have a colourful selection of those. Every single item was fresh, beautifully put together with care and attention and the potatoes were baked nicely paired with a generous cup of fruit (see pic.)

The coffee was good...actually quite good considering it was just a house roast and it was served in a sparkling clean cup. The entire restaurant was super clean...which I loved. You know...no little drips on the rim where the server explains....Oh it must've dripped from the pot, or little dusty corners on the booth seats, and water marks on the tables from whatever semi-wet wiping rags were used from the previous guests. Nope. This place was immaculate.

The Service. Exceptional. Not only were they friendly...they were genuine. Yes there's a difference. Some places they are friendly but not genuine....you know...the forced smiles. Then there is genuine friendly where you can feel the appreciation, the gratitude and a vibe that could only mean...they wanna be there. They like what they do and are happy to have you there. Energy and vibe...goes a long way...in either direction.
Not for a second did we have to ask for anything. It was provided before we even knew we wanted it.

SUNSHINE DINER...may your rays keep this beautiful chilly city warm for many years to come.

You want to think about updating pictures showing the menu? Many of them are 6 yrs old. I'm pretty sure your prices have gone up since then.

Must visit Elvis themed diner with a retro vibe.

      We Ordered:
Blackstone Eggs Benedict (bacon, tomato, homemade hollandaise sauce, home fries, and fresh seasonal fruit) $19.95
French Toast Breakfast w/ Oktoberfest Sausage (2 eggs, home fries, and fresh seasonal fruits $23.45
      Black Coffee w/ milk
      Orange Juice

Both of us agreed that this was one of the better diners we have dined at in vancouver and we can't wait to go back

There's plenty of paid and free street parking available.

Best brunch in the city when factoring in both food and ambience. Really comfy booths and large portions. The head server here is a master of her art and runs a tight ship.

I would love to submit a review of the food, but the service was so terrible that I wasn't even able to place an order for my kids to eat.

It wasn't even busy on the day that we went and found it to be ridiculous that they would sit us at the back table in the corner (enough for 8 people) when there were other tables near the front enough for the five of us.

Our "server" told us she would be with us in a few minutes when then ended up being over 15 minutes so we just decided to leave since my wife and kids were all hungry.

I wanted to drink water, but didn't want to do so with the cup that was given to me with lipstick on it.

Also, to charge $16.95 for toast, two eggs, potatoes, and fruit is just highway robbery!

If you want good service and decent pricing on food, there are other places in the area that can do that much better than this place.

I've only ever had a delicious breakfast and decent service here and I can honestly say that the veggie eggs benny (with avocado, tomato & cream cheese) that I had last Sunday was simply outstanding and the eggs were just perfect! The crispy potatoes were also very tasty & I always appreciate the fruit salad. I'm already planning when to go back and have the same thing all over again because it was soooo delicious! We had great service and I always get a kick out of watching the old cartoons playing on the TV. Menu prices have definitely gone up but unfortunately that's happening everywhere :-(
