Sura Korean BBQ

Let me just say this before saying anything further: This kind of lunch set for $15 is a bloody steal. I wanted to say that first before I mess up my review. Haha.

Sura Korean BBQ restaurant is a newly opened Korean restaurant in Richmond Aberdeen Centre with fairly modern decor for a Korean restaurant in Metro Vancouver area. If you are frequent to Korean restaurant scene in town, you should know what I'm trying to say. The most restaurants are passable enough with their food quality, but they are not the kind of places you'd want to take out your girl friend or boy friend to. This one though is comfortably close to that criteria. Everything felt well prepared from seats to grills. Actually I preferred this one's open and modern interior to that of Sura Robson location. It's a definite up-point to me.

Now, to the things that matter more: Their menu, more precisely the food's taste and quality. This is obviously my first time to try this restaurant -- although I've been to Sura Robson quite often -- so probably consciously I went with a safer choice: Sura Lunch Set Course. It's $15. Fifteeeeen. Tuna Tacos at Milest*nes will cost you the same. See my point? For the price, you will have 11 to 12 small-portion Korean dishes. Yes, I tend to agree with the opinion that they are more of samplers than tapas. But calling these dishes simply samplers just doesn't do justice. At the end of the meal, you will feel generously satisfied with the portion. Besides, this is for lunch.

Another good thing of having this set course is that you could enjoy variety that the authentic Korean Cuisine has to offer. Some of my friends from UK are often wondering if there's more to the cuisine culture than BBQ and Soups. This set course is a perfect opportunity where they can experience Korean Cuisine other than having just grilled meats and steamed rice. There are this Spicy Squid Salad, Mung Bean Jelly, crowd-pleaser Grilled Beef Rib-eye, Korean style Sweet & Sour Pork, Grilled Croaker, my all time favourite Herb Pork Belly, and Korean's dinner staples, Soybean Paste Soup.

The quality-wise; Isn't there a saying that the busy restaurant never serves gone-bad food? No time for food materials in Kitchen to go bad. But this is a VERY busy restaurant. At least many lunch times I've passed by. So, probably the finish of their dish-served would be hit-or-miss. Luckily this time my girl friend and I tried, everything was just great.

If you live or work close by and happen to enjoy Korean food, having your lunch at this Korean restaurant in Aberdeen Mall is a no-brainer. There, I said it.

I am very happy that there is a "SURA KOREAN BBQ" restaurant in my town.
The atmosphere is very welcoming and Vibrant.
Greetings are always sweet and warmth, especially the manager?(young skinny handsome man) knows how to handle employees and treat customers.
This restaurant is absolutely the best place for Korean original and traditional foods experience with friends and family.

Sure is conveniently located inside Aberdeen mall! There is ample seating and service is quick. We ordered a variety of meat items that were well seasoned. The green pancake was so good! I would come back just to eat that. The seating was comfy and the bbq grill nice and hot b it didn't burn the meat like other places. The washroom had a weird sign not to use your feet to flush...lol

I went to Sura the first time on a Saturday and tried their lunch set menu. This menu requires a minimum of two people ordering it and comes with an immense number of dishes! This lunch became my dinner as well. Service was on point with the food coming out really fast.

This place is so beautiful inside with an upscale feel but the servers are sweet, accommodating and laid back. My friend had heard about it from her brother & we were hungry for KBBQ so we decided to check it out & I'm so glad we did! It's located inside of an Asian mall in Richmond BC, so I wasn't expecting it too feel so fancy. It's really aesthetic & gorgeous inside...everywhere, even the bathroom. They have a really affordable lunch set with tons of choices for only $25/person Canadian but we wanted something lighter since we had plans to go to the Richmond Night Market later that evening, we were there around 5 PM. We decided to share some marinated kalbi(beef short ribs, cut off the bone) & a cold noodle dish since it was hot outside. Such good choices! The noodle dish was refreshing and full of great texture...the noodles had a bouncy chew, broth was chilled so perfectly with some crushed ice pieces, thin slices of cucumber, a nice think hunk of watermelon & half of a hardboiled egg. Our meet was the perfect size for the 2 of us & the quality was great, well marinated & tender. We got to grill it ourselves to our liking so we had some crispy, burnt edges that were so tasty...yum! I rate Korean restaurants by their banchan & Sura did NOT disappoint. They served us Napa kimchi that was a little on the fresher side, not too fermented, but still good, med size salad with romaine & mungbean sprouts with a Gochujung drizzle, sweet & savory simmered potatoes, a stewed down eggplant dish, but my FAVORITE was the chunks of daikon simmered to the perfect texture in a broth that was gingery and slightly fishy...it was bright red but not spicy, I LOVED it! The perfect spot for a light meal but if you are hungry...you can really get a great variety with quality fresh ingredients with one of their set menus...I'm pretty sure they have a dinner one too but they also have so much to choose from including hot pots that come in small or large sizes! I would definitely go back with my family or large party!

This establishment is in the Aberdeen Mall in Richmond. Stopped by mid week for lunch...and came for the $25 lunch special. We were advised this location had temporarily stopped serving the lunch special. Opted for the Bibim-bap ($21) and the Royal Marinated Galbi ($55) for bbq. The presentation of all the dishes was very good and the beef was very tender...great marbling on the beef. I liked the variety of dishes that accompany the bbq. There was no issue with the service and our server was very pleasant and attentive.

It was a positive food experience and happy to recommend Sura Korean BBQ.

i came here during dinner and it was pretty busy. the food took a while but it all came out at the same time. the service was nice and it was spacey inside. the food was pretty good and flavorful. the presentation was very nice and the portions were big too. you can also get the bbq food to grill, which i might try next time.

Excellent Korean beef.. fresh, tender, not too sweet or salty with real charcoal grill... nice assortment of side dishes .. servers were a bit chilly and was pushing the experience towards an almost 4 star....

The first time wow'd us. Jump to third time and it is solid.

Spacious seating, meant for large groups. Unique table style, low level seating furnished with traditional Korean pillow seats. Nice touch.

Kfood ~ super fast delicious delivery, maybe half the time it normally would take at other Korean restaurants. Banchan fresh & tasty, entrees yummy.

Very pricey. Loud. A bit pushy to finish.

The downtown location some would say has a better date nite vibe. But when in Richmond...

We tried this restaurant inside Aberdeen Mall first floor. Place gets busy.

Inside decor is nice. Almost looks like Japanese seats with cushion. Place is not too smokey with their high ceiling.

Staff was nice and attentive.

Food was decent. Meat was flavorful but not as tender. Maybe we overcooked. We got the premium beef galbi amd marinated pork. We also ordered Japchae, seafood pancake, tofu soup with beef (should order with seafood instead), and green salad. We shouldn't have ordered the green salad since they provide a small salad as one of their sides. We also like their fish cake side but other sides we didn't like as much like kim chi, daikon, and mackarel. They refill the sides upon your request.

The only reason I give this 3 star is because I have had better meat and this place is quite pricey for me (party of 4).

Got recommended this place by several friends, and it definitely lived up to expectations! It's located in the aberdeen mall on the corner, so it's fun to digest and walk around Hmart/other stores.

The royal kalbi was amazing and super tender; the portion was pretty good for the price! Highly recommend the galbitang as well. I'd probably wouldn't order the herb bossam again; the potato pancake was more like a large hashbrown which I wasn't expecting, but still tasty!

The interior is super modern and open feeling, love the pillow cushions. Service was good as well!
