Passed by this restaurant and decided to give it a try.
They had a promo for their tofu pockets ($18 for 6) and I've been wanting to try tofu pockets anyway. Tofu pockets (yubu chobap) are basically seasoned fried tofu skin with rice and other toppings. We tried each flavour they had and my fave was the bulgogi. I would probably go back to order the same or try their rice bowls or Korean toast.
It seems that they rebranded and changed their menu. From looking at reviews, the previous restaurant there was called Kim's Table but the owner seems to be the same. The place is now called Tae's Korean Cuisine The place looks quite similar to before as well.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 20, 2022
You know it's authentic because it's literally run by a mom (who only speaks Korean) and her daughter (whose English is good enough to act as her translator).
Very clean and friendly environment, fresh ingredients, and takes cash & credit. The kimbap combo's free fried seaweed roll was actually incredibly delicious, and is a nice supplement to the meal. The tofu pockets were also fun to eat. Lots of flavors to choose from.
We are very glad to finally have an authentic casual Korean spot here, without the usual BBQ / fried-chicken themes (not to say that we don't love fried chicken...)
Just soft opened 2 weeks ago so please be extra patient with this new family business.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Aug 12, 2022
Checked out this new-ish place in the Marpole neighborhood. The small mall it is in has its own lot so parking was easy. Pricing is very affordable across the board, you can eat like a king here for not very much at all!
Ok so the house kimbap was just average, but everything else was fantastic and such good value! The bulgogi sandwich looked almost a little plain in other review photos I saw, but that is absolutely not the case. It's a great little package of tasty bulgogi beef and mayo, stuffed between slices of soft sandwich bread. No brainer. If you are near here at all, do not ever get a deli sandwich from Safeway again (if you ever did in the first place).
The imitation crab and salmon inari were both good, though the salmon stood out more. I also wonder if they will start serving the sashimi version again? Would love to try it. Wonderful addition to the neighbourhood- note they are currently listed as closed on Google, hopefully this is really just temporary and they will be back soon.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Tina C.Richmond, Canada111771567Jan 28, 2022First to Review
Newly opened Korean restaurant on Granville Street. We found out they just currently doing soft opening these days and went to try their food. They offered variety of popular Korean street food, snacks or meals, such as kimbap aka seaweed rice roll, ramen, tofu pockets and street style toast! Too bad I only have one stomach, but I tried to order for almost all the different kinds on their menu.
* Kimbap combo ($11.50):
Kim's signature kimbap + combo includes: cream soup, kimchi, deep fried seaweed roll, and choice of candied sweet potatoes or pan-fried butter potatoes. Such a great value combo. The kimbap stuffed with lots ingredients and tastes really healthy. The combo cream soup surprised me a lot, which I don't really expect much but it was actually quite flavourful and tasty. Even the deep fried seaweed roll and candied sweet potatoes are delicious.
* Seafood ramen ($9.5): ramen itself cooked well. Great aal dente texture and just perfect amount of water. They also added a lot of colour vegetables on top and a little bit of mixed seafood which makes you feel (better) when you eat ramen(?). I just hope the seafood mixed can be a bit more since its "seafood" ramen.
* Tofu pocket combo ($14.5):
Choice of any 6 tofu pockets + Kimchi: I choose tuna mayo, crab meat, kimchi bacon, Boolgogi, salmon, and shrimp garlic. I like the shrimp garlic and salmon the best. Shimp garlic came a bit later because they made it fresh. The smell is fragrant as they stir-fried it.
Overall, great food with nice customer service. It's a family run restaurant with lots of care to their food. Give it a try to this little shop when you're in the neighborhood.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Erv N.West Side, Vancouver, Canada02Oct 13, 2022
This is a really wonderful family-owned restaurant that never disappoints. They haven't been open long but are already a beloved part of the neighborhood. I'm now a regular customer and pick up something about twice a week. Particularly fond of the tuna pockets which are a perfect quick, healthy snack to go.
