If you like ramen, this is the place! E. Georgia is abit gentrified... a few cafe & modern eats. This ramen place is legit & offers a wide selection of different kind of ramen & soup broth
I ordered the Classic Ramen- I loved the broth, it is creamy & tasty, spot on! Not too salty either. It is served with the thin kind of ramen, loved the texture of the ramen, you can also order one time free extra noodles if it is not enough for you, just make sure you save some broth. My hubby had the Yokohama lekei ramen ( thick ramen), I got to taste his broth but preferred my classic ramen broth.
The Chashu was good with a bit of fat & mostly meat. Not the tender kind that melts in your mouth, very tasty with a great flavour.
Decor is simple & clean, there's option of regular tables with chairs or bar table with bar stools. There's pictures with one Japanese word that describes the meaning of that phrase... eat & learn simple Japanese...
Service was good & pretty fast, we came after lunch hour at about 2pm. Ample seats available plus paid street parking, can be limited at peak hours. We went on a Friday afternoon.
All in all a yummy experience. Check it out if you are in Chinatown area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marco L.Renfrew-Collingwood, Vancouver, Canada276Jul 22, 2024
I've eaten here many times over the years going back to 2017. Quality overall can be a little variable.
I've had times where the food is amazing and other when its been a bit sub par.
The tonkotsu ramen is consistently good. Carefull if you choose to go spicy as the third spice level is SPICY.
Last time I was here I had the spicy Tsukemen with pork chasu. It was good but nothing mindblowing. Will be sticking to the ramen in the future.
The location is cozy in the middle of chinatown and its often pretty busy. Can expect a bit of a wait for service sometimes yet a good experience overallHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 4, 20241 check-in
Yokohama ramen was quite tasty and filling!
Would go back again but try eating on the patio. It was quite loud inside with the music and acoustics. People sitting next to us sounded way louder than they probably were. Kids enjoyed their chicken karage and rice. My friend said her Classic Ramen was good (and she finished everything).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 20, 2024
This was my second time having the ramen butcher and it was just as delicious as I remembered it to be the first time around. I got the Spicy Sesame Tantan Tsukemen and my friends ordered the Red Spicy Ramen. We all enjoyed our noodles which were quickly served to us. A solid ramen spot to add to your list!

Came in on a friday and it was busy but they have a lot of seating so didn't have to wait at all. Servers were attentive and friendly, and the interior was a bit dark but not mad about it. My first time here and I wanted to try their tsukemen and honestly loved it, the soup was not too salty and the noodles had an amazing bounce, they also gave a bit of this yuzu salt paste on the side to change up the flavours a little bit. The coconut curry ramen soup was good but the toppings lacked, even tsukemen had more bamboo shoots than it. Definitely will come back for the tsukemen!

The black garlic ramen here is the richest in town in my opinion. The noodles were good, the chasu was fatty and the broth was rich!
I opted out the ginger since last time it gave me a contradicting effect with the richness
The service was so- so and the place had a nice ambience to it .Parking is horrible of course but if you like your ramen rich, it's worth the wait.
Try the black garlic , oh and it's free refill for noodles (one time)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 28, 2024
We came on a Friday night and the wait wasn't too bad! The service was a little slow. Chicken karaage was really good. Juicy interior and flavorful exterior. The truffle gyoza has some good reviews but I honestly thought it was overkill. The cheese was definitely too much, and the truffle flavor with the gyoza wasn't so impressive.
The red ramen was good. We liked how thin and perfectly cooked the noodles were. I wish the chashu was more thinly sliced, and that the broth was a little less creamy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 5, 2024
My search for comfort food landed me at The Ramen Butcher.
I enjoyed the spicy karaage tsukemen with added kikurage mushrooms. The broth was very rich and had chunks of pork. It was like getting the best of both worlds - karaage and chashu! The karaage was very crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and seasoned well. The thick and chewy noodles carried the thick broth well. Overall, the dish was not very spicy.
I suggest trying The Ramen Butcher for yourself if you are looking for ramen in Vancouver!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 26, 2024
I wanted to like this place, on a Monday evening it was one of few places open in Chinatown. The menu looks pretty, and I ordered the Yokohama. They said it was full of flavour. I would say it's... just ok. The flavour was... it was salty but not too distinct otherwise. The meat was not bad but nothing as good as it looks on the picture. Egg... again just OK. It's a bit too blah overall to me for me to give this a 4 star. Perhaps I like thin noodles better, or the noodles were just too meh for me. Pass.

One of my fave ramen spots in Vancouver! Vibe is chill and service is quick.
I usually order these 3 items:
Truffle gyoza: gyozas are made in house and the gyoza wrapper is thin and chewy. There's a hint of truffle oil and I like the cheese and creamy sauce, but it can be heavy.
Black garlic ramen: very garlicky, but not overwhelming. This dish also comes with extra thin noodles, free of charge.
Yokohama lekei ramen: my go to when I want something comforting. The broth is heavy and flavourful. The egg is perfectly cooked and the crunchiness of the bamboo shoots pairs well with this. This bowl comes with thick chewy noodles. I always add extra thick noodles for $1.95.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
