Yu Handyman Services

It's been nine years since the last time Yu fixed something for me. My review from 2015 was about some shelving/carpentry he did for me (6 stars!! - master carpenter...really).

I've been looking for someone to simply install a complicated showerhead for me and Yu just finished it up for me. He really is the best - from carpentry to plumbing and probably lots of other stuff I haven't used his services for (yet...) - definitely will be using him way before another 9 years have passed.

Joe is professional and very thorough with his work. Reliable and trustworthy man. You pay for what u get and won't be disappointed. His work is high quality and very satisfying. If you see any bad reviews, that is because people are cheap and only want to take advantage of Joe. Learn how to appreciate handyman knowledge and their workmanship. If you complain, then learn the skill and do it yourself. Love Joe!

Had an emergency rats related smell activities on Chinese New Year day! Needed to find someone quick to open dry walls, in addition to the exterminator. Joe responded quickly & opened up walls around the radiators. Found a large hole near a radiator, he plugged the hole with liquid foam to block the urine smell! He suggested the smell should be reduced with the plug. Patched up the wall back up, costed $400 for 3 hours of work in 2 trips!

The smell continued to be there after 2 days. Proceed to ask him to return to open up the dry walls in basement. He hammered a few holes on the dry walls and left, charged me for another $300. When I asked of him to follow-up to complete the job, he was not responded.

He responded to ask for payment, he claimed he completed the job.

Not professional in communicating and on follow-up.

My boiler was not working so I called several handymen. Some never responded, some called the next day. I had to baby sit for my 2 year old grand daughter and was afraid she would get sick.

I called Joe Wu and he came immediately. He not only fixed my boiler, he called me the next day to make sure that the boiler was still working. My apartment is now warmer than it ever was been before...and the heat comes up much faster now!

Joe is reliable, caring, and knows his stuff!!! I highly recommend him!!

Absolutely terrific service. Yu did 3 jobs for us yesterday - he was efficient, polite and extremely tidy (no mess at all, and he cleans up the space for you completely).

Also very COVID safe (N-95 mask at all times). Couldn't recommend Yu more highly!

Joe was SO AWESOME! He put some shelves up for me in my entryway closet for my shoes, he put up a door (went to home depot and got the door) and put up a nice subway tile backsplash in my kitchen. I see why he has so many positive reviews. I will call him again soon for some electrical work too. HE DOES EVERYTHING!!!!!!

**I forgot to add, regarding the shelves for my shoes, he got the wood, measured, cut and painted.** VERY PLEASED WITH HIS WORK AND HIS DESIRE TO 100% SATISFY HIS CUSTOMERS.

I highly recommend Joe. We gave him a call about hooking up a dryer and ended up having him fix a multitude of our house issues. He is definitely a jack of all trade and worked relentlessly until he solved the problem. He checked every nook and cranny, and thought outside of the box until he found a solution to our problem. He was respectful of our home during these covid times and I knew that our home was in good hands.

I can't tell if I ended up contacting the same Joe as everyone else. The Joe I spoke with was rude and didn't know the last thing about communication. It sounded like he was interested in the job but he was very spotty with answering my messages. We set up to meet a couple of times but it didn't work out, and that was fine - I get it, it's busy season, and schedules don't line up.

But when he finally told me one day at midnight he would be able to come take a look at the apartment the next day at 5:30-6pm, I thought everything would go smoothly. I messaged him the following day to confirm because I would have needed to leave work early to meet him, but I received no confirmation. I figured he had my cell number (but he did not provide his own for me) so he could always call to let me know during the day - but I did not receive a call. I got home at 5:30-6pm and waited just in case he would come, and finally left at 6:45pm to meet friends for dinner.

At 7:15pm I get a text message from Joe telling me he was on his way. When I told him I was no longer home, this was his response:

"I just want to let you know I charge $50 to see a job if you're not home I'm not coming."

So... Joe never confirmed he was coming. He was on his way after 45 minutes after his quoted window. He never advised there was a $50 charge. And now he's giving me attitude?

I really wanted his help in 3 projects after reading all the Yelp reviews. Maybe the jobs I had were more than what he could take on and he was unloading some busy season stress onto me? Either way it was strange.

Joe is wonderful and I highly recommend! He is responsive, kind, and does great work! I had some old wallpaper that was going to be replaced. He walked me through how to take it down myself, a super tedious task as it was very old, to avoid being overcharged if I hired someone to do that portion of the project. I felt that he really had my best interest at heart and he then helped me see the project through - patching the wall and painting. It looks great and I look forward to brining Joe back to help restore other projects I have around the house!

Joe was very responsive when I reached out to him. I had sent him pictures of a minor gap I noticed between my shower tile and ceiling. Rather than giving me a random quote he asked for additional pictures so he can determine what the issue really is.

Joe looked at the issue and provided feedback on what caused the issue and how I can go about to fixing it. He is very thorough and looks for the best possible solution. I will definitely use him again for any future needs!
