Linnea’s 4-star review:
If you try and drive through Chinatown and/or expect to find parking, you're insane. I've seen people many times try and drive through these streets while stopping here and there in frustration because tourists are crossing and parades are forming in the middle of the street, like they are surprised that this is happening. So I stand on the sidewalk and point while laughing.
You will find metered parking along the cross streets, but you'll most likely be trekking uphill. If you are prone to having a loser moment like myself and happen to get lost most of the time, just listen for the sounds of illegal fireworks, music, and live chickens.
Most of the stores are inexpensive. You will find an assortment of souvenirs, mostly, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. You will also find a lot of people walking around with their kids on leashes, ducks hanging in windows, tourists trying on different hats and clothes while taking pictures of themselves with their camera phone, one can only assume they are uploading to Facebook, and [love] lanterns/decorations hanging from building to building.
The food here is scrumptious; so many places to choose from.
*Note to self, bring cash*
I have yet to try any of their bakeries, but from what I hear it's AMAZING.
It's always a treat to come here.
