Hundreds of millions of reviews are posted on Yelp, and our automated recommendation software works in the background to showcase the reviews that it determines are most helpful. These are typically written by active members of the Yelp community who are self-motivated to share their personal, detailed experiences about local businesses. It applies the same objective rules to reviews of every business and treats reviews of advertisers and non-advertisers exactly the same.
The software does something no human can—regularly analyze billions of data points from all reviews, reviewers and businesses to evaluate the usefulness and reliability of each review. It’s engineered to provide a level playing field for all businesses on Yelp. Having a great reputation on Yelp shouldn't be about who has the time and resources to ask the most people to write reviews. Great Yelp reviews and ratings should come from consumers who had a great experience that they’re inspired to tell others about. Learn more here.

You won't be able to relax at the pool without a reservation which to me is less than relaxing. Also it's far from anything.

First 3 days of the trip was amazing. Hotel is beautiful and the rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful until, until I check out..
I was staying at the hotel on a business trip, we attended a trade show taking place across the street. On the last day, after a long day on my feet at the show, I decided to return to my room, shower and order dinner. I went with basic chicken strips, fries and a diet coke (basic at $44!) Halfway though my meal, I noticed the chicken in the strip I was eating was raw, I cut into the second and it was the same. I panicked knowing I was flying home the next day and didn't want to become sick!
I took my tray down to the front desk and they were very apologetic and concerned, offering me gingerale and pepto bismol, but I inevitably started experiencing stomach pain and well, you can imagine what else a couple of hours later. The next hours were terrible, I was in the washroom until 2:30am and up again at 5am. Upon checkout the manager on duty assured me there would be follow up with the general manager and director of food and beverage. The director did call while I was at the airport and send a quick email with his contact info, but I have heard nothing since. I have emailed and called to no avail.
Bottom line - if you have a problem, chances are once you check out, they'll forget about you and hold no responsibility or consideration to rectify the situation. -

I wasn't able to fly into Canada because of Covid restrictions. Called the hotel to explain the situation and they weren't willing to accommodate in any way. First I asked for a refund, they said no. Then I asked for stay credit so I could rebook in a future date when the restrictions have been lifted and they still said no. They took my money and left me high and dry. Very unprofessional.

The world's kindest hoteliers! A wealth of amenities. It's about you! Stunning views. Just a few of the things Hotel X boasts on their website pertaining to the values of their brand and the way they treat people. Where was this kindness when the hotel decided to cut the contract of food & beverage provider By Peter n Pauls and bring in a new provider that did not retain the 200 previously employed food and beverage employees? Where is that kindness now that 200 hospitality professionals are without jobs during a global pandemic that's hit our industry harder than most others? Wealth is clearly a focus for this hotel - the cancellation of former F&B provider's contract came in favour of a hospitality company with NHL ties, which they used to secure the NHL bubble contract. Where is this wealth they boast about when 200 people who are owed wages, gratuities and severance pay have been ignored and dismissed? The only thing stunning about this hotel is how stunned the food and beverage staff were to find a job posting hiring for our jobs under a different company when not one of us had been alerted that we no longer had jobs. It might be about YOU as a guest, but it definitely isn't about us. Apparently staff are not worthy of the kindness the hotel promises to it's guests. This hotel has entirely dodged any legal or ethical responsibility in regards to the treatment of a large group of individuals. If you're considering a stay at this hotel, you now know that you're supporting a business that has shown blatant and flagrant disregard for employment standards, and the well being of 200 former employees. If you have a conscience or a heart or morals, please consider booking your stay at one of Toronto's many other luxury hotel options.

Lies to it's patrons and clients. Absolutely despicable union busting behaviour.

This hotel was an experience on its own. It was on the pricier side when we stayed there, but it was well worth it. The amenities of the hotel were unexpected, but made for a very enjoyable stay!

Upgraded our stay to include the welcome reception with snacks and unlimited drinks, breakfast, late checkout (2pm) and turndown service which was well worth it. Hotel is beautiful and in a convenient location. Complimentary shuttle to union station was an added bonus. The beds were so comfortable with beautiful linens. Can't wait to return!

If you're looking for a high-end piece of Heaven on your next visit to Toronto, look no further. The new Hotel X has impressed this jaded traveller, and that's no easy task: I've stayed in many great - and not so great - hotels across North America, and I can honestly say that the X more than delivers: in a world of hotel-steaks, the X is the Filet Mignon.
We started with a standard King room, which was beautiful and well-appointed, but then upgraded from the standard room to a corner suite, where we were immediately bedazzled by the panoramic views of the waterfront and Toronto-city proper. Our suite was on the 24th floor, and we felt like kids as we watched the planes take off from Billy Bishop airport. Though it felt as if you could reach out and touch the jet as it lifted off, the windows are incredibly insulated, and no sound comes in. The suite is a multi-room format, with a high-ceilinged living room with glass walls at least 14 ft high, a dining/breakfast nook, 2 bathrooms - a powder-room in the hall, and a master bathroom off the bedroom.
The master bathroom has a deep, 2-person tub as it's centerpiece, with a large glass-walled shower and a view of the CN Tower. The bedroom was roomy with an over-sized King bed, and another gorgeous view of the city, especially at night. The bed was one of the best we've slept in (at least, for us) - firm, but forgiving. The pillows were varied enough that both of us found ones that worked. The drawers are filled with all the amenities a forgetful traveller might need, from toothbrushes & emery boards to mouthwash & loofa sponges. Finally, you have good control of ventilation/AC/heat from 2 locations, so you can control your surroundings. One nit-pick: it would be nice to have a Dyson-style fan in one of the closets, to help with air-movement in the bedroom. This IS a luxury hotel after all, n'est pas?
The property itself is a new construction, around 30 stories tall, right across the street from the Trillium Park and William G. Davis Trail, a long-winding walking path/bike path along the waterfront. The hotel is up a little hill, which helps even the lowest floors to have fantastic views. The lobby is cavernous, with a day-bar, gorgeous and very unique furniture and art and a staircase to the 2nd floor amenities. The front desk is easily seen and accessed, and check-in is beyond warm and welcoming. A little more on the staff later...
While the Hotel is still in the process of constructing additional facilities such as a full spa (this made my wife happy), and a 2nd gourmet resto featuring Mediterranean cuisine, farm-fresh and sourced locally, there are great options in the hotel already, such as the rooftop bar, full cinema, tennis courts...and FOOD!
In-Room Dining: We checked in at midnight after a long day of travel, and you can imagine how happy we were to find out that they had 24 hour room service. The gourmet burger went down very well at 2:30 AM...
Maxx's Diner - unlike the name suggests, this is a high-end dining experience, with an open-kitchen concept. Our meals were sumptuous...I had the Cornish Game Hen (cooked THEIR way) and my wife had the beef tenderloin, which was perfection. We loved interacting with the Chef and watching him run the crew in the kitchen. He also sent us a special dessert, with his regards.
VIP Rooms: you can get a VIP upgrade, which gives you access to the VIP lounge for relaxing with a book in front of a fireplace, or enjoying their daily wine & cheese, and starting your day with their breakfast buffet.
Falcon Skybar: On the 27th floor, panoramic views, outdoor contour balcony, indoor fireplace and a great group of waitstaff. A large choice of creative signature cocktails and fresh-made bar-eats are available.
The staff at the X are all young, enthused and welcoming. We had particularly special interactions with Felipe, the Guest Services Manager, who made sure our stay was memorable, and attended to our every need & request. SHOUT OUT to George, our bartender at the Falcon Skybar, who made sure we had full drinks, entertained us with his mad mixology-styles and made sure we had Habs hockey on the screen. Felipe & the rest of the X team provided a level of service that was professional, but very personal, honest and endearing. The staff are all genuinely nice people, and they always seem to have time to interact with a guest.
Definitely looking forward to our next escape!
