Cooking Notes

Sourdough bread from Aldi... it's already sliced, and easy to cut into cubes. (I grab a loaf of this bread almost every visit, to have one in the fridge and one in the freezer at all times.) Black pepper ground over them. Olive oil, mixed with both hands. Pop into the oven till browned. So easy, and a hit with friends.

this is one just to memorize. so simple and useful

I use the heel of a bakery whole wheat loaf when it becomes too hard to slice. And in addition to pepper, I think it needs some salt. I have a salt grinder from Aldi that mixes the salt with Italian herbs and that adds a nice touch.

Excellent. Used only Heidenburg white bread. Bake about 15 minutes.
