  • ½cup sugar
  • ½cup water
  • ¼cup orange juice
  • cup dried cherries
  • 4tablespoons Grand Marnier
  • cup coarsely chopped pecans

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Wash cranberries and combine in heavy saucepan with sugar, water and orange juice. Bring to boil over high heat; reduce heat and cook at gentle boil until cranberries begin to pop.

  2. Step 2

    Remove from heat and stir in cherries and Grand Marnier. Chill, for up to a week.

  3. Step 3

    When ready to serve, stir in pecans.

I added 1 teas of grated orange peel for extra tartness. Worked well, I think.

I used raisins and currents instead of dried cherries. It worked out just lovely. Wonderful balance of flavors.
