A not-for-profit scholarly publisher, Duke University Press is best known for publishing in the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics.

Introduction to Products and Services

Duke University Press publishes approximately 150 books annually and over 60 journals, as well as offering several electronic collections and open-access (OA) publishing initiatives. The Press also partners with nonprofit scholarly journal publishers and societies to provide journal services, including subscription management, fulfillment, hosting, and institutional marketing and sales.

As part of our mission to share the ideas of bold, progressive thinkers and support emerging and vital fields of scholarship, we publish both established journals at the top of their disciplines as well as emerging scholarship breaking new disciplinary ground.

Open Access (OA)

Duke University Press is part of several open-access (OA) publishing initiatives. Like the scholarly publishing community at large, we have explored different funding models for OA and have found that there is no one perfect model but a variety of good options.
