2 Men Wounded In Downtown Huntington Beach Shooting, 5 Arrested

Police were investigating a shooting that may have escalated from an argument and a physical altercation between seven people in OC.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — An argument is suspected to have escalated into a shooting that left two people wounded in downtown Huntington Beach on Tuesday night, police said.

Two men were hospitalized on after police found them suffering from gunshot wounds in downtown Huntington Beach. Five people were arrested in connection with the shooting, the Huntington Beach Police Department said in a statement.

Police were dispatched to 3rd Street and Walnut Avenue at 11:40 p.m. where they responded to reports of gunfire. The two men were taken to a hospital and were in unknown condition but were expected to survive, police said.

Shortly after, officers pulled over a vehicle near the shooting location. The five people inside the car matched the description of the suspected shooters, police said. All five were arrested and brought into the Huntington Beach Police Station for questioning.

Police believe an argument and a physical altercation preceded the shooting, but the investigation was ongoing. The identities of the victims and suspects were not released.
