Long Beach Stabbing Victim In Critical Condition, Suspect At Large

LONG BEACH, CA — A man was in critical but stable condition Wednesday after a late-night stabbing in Long Beach, police said.

Police received a report of the stabbing at about 11:35 p.m. Tuesday night and were dispatched to the 100 block of West Artesia Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found a man who had stab wounds in his upper body.

Paramedics transported the man to the hospital in critical, but stable condition the Long Beach Police Department said.

Preliminary investigation results suggest that the suspect was sitting in his car when the victim approached him with a knife. The suspect then left the car, also holding a knife, police said.

"The suspect and victim engaged in a physical altercation, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim," LBPD said in a statement.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
