LONG BEACH, CA — A Long Beach man was in critical but stable condition after he was stabbed Sunday night, police said.

The Long Beach Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of East 14th Street regarding a battery call. According to preliminary investigation results, the victim was outside when another man approached him and stabbed him.

The motive for the stabbing and information about the suspect are under investigation, LBPD said.

Paramedics took the victim to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition, officials said.
