Pro-Palestine Protest Launched At Cal State Long Beach

Some entrances to the campus were blocked by plywood and patio furniture as over a thousand gathered at the university.

LONG BEACH, CA — Students took to Cal State Long Beach Thursday morning to demand that university leaders divest from companies that do business with Israel, joining a growing wave of universities gaining national attention for similar protests.

The protest was initially reported at around 11 a.m., when a large group of students holding Palestinian flags and signs moved from the campus's central quad to Brotman Hall, the university's administrative building.

As of 12:30 p.m., the protestors remained at Brotman Hall and some entrances to the campus were blocked by patio furniture and plywood, according to eyewitness reports.

Though barricades were soon taken down, multiple outlets reported that protestors remained gathered in the plaza outside of Brotman Hall shortly as of 1:45 p.m.

CSULB Police issued several notifications for students to avoid the area.
