LONG BEACH, CA — A 28-year-old man was shot and killed in Downtown Long Beach just after midnight on Wednesday, police said.

The Long Beach Police Department responded to the 800 block of Atlantic Avenue after the shooting was reported and discovered the victim, Tyrone Parks, with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to render medical aid, Parks was declared dead at the scene, police said.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived and the circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.
