LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach police are investigating a stabbing that took place early Thursday morning near the traffic circle.

Dispatch notified police that a stabbing victim was in the process of being taken to a local hospital for her injuries.

Preliminary investigation results revealed that the woman was driving with another woman when a brief altercation started. Police said the argument escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim.

According to authorities, the suspect then left the car and fled the scene before police arrived. The victim drove to the 3700 block of Lewis Avenue for safety and called 911.

No additional information was available and the investigation is ongoing.
