Fire Burns 3 Acres Near Hollywood Bowl, Shuts Down 101 Ramp: LAFD

A fire burned dangerously close to the Hollywood Bowl Sunday afternoon, according to the LAFD.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — A fire dangerously close to the Hollywood Bowl burned about three acres of brush Sunday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

One firefighter was injured during the suppression effort and was transported to a local hospital in fair condition for treatment of unspecified medical problems, according to the LAFD.

The fire was first reported at around 2:15 p.m. near the 101 Freeway, on the side opposite the Hollywood Bowl. More than 100 city and county firefighters were dispatched as part of the firefighting effort, which involved helicopters dropping water the on the flames, according to the LAFD.

Crews knocked down the fire in under two hours and no structures were damaged, according to the LAFD.

The southbound Highland Avenue exit from the 101 Freeway was temporarily closed Sunday afternoon.

Crews planned to remain on scene into the evening to cool down hot spots. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the LAFD said.
