MARINA DEL REY, CA — An ocean water use warning was issued Wednesday for Mother's Beach in Marina del Rey, along with several other Los Angeles beaches.

"The warning has been issued due to bacterial levels exceeding health standards when last tested," public health officials said.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health warned swimmers and surfers before going in the ocean water to be careful at the following areas:

Both Mother's Beach in Marina del Rey and Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro have a similar problem, Nicole Mooradian from the County of Los Angeles Department of Beaches and Harbors told Patch.

"In both places, bird feces have been identified as potential sources of bacteria," Mooradian said.

It's still unclear if these bacteria levels are related to the Hyperion spill in July, or if it's unrelated.

Both beaches are often on the warning list from the county, but that could be due to poor water circulation with little wave movement, Mooradian said.

Recorded information on beach conditions is available 24-hours a day on the county's beach closure hotline: 1-800- 525-5662. Visit the website for information: PublicHealth.LACounty.gov/Beach/.
