Logo Unveiled for the 2018 Millbrae Art & Wine Festival

Chamber of Commerce forging ahead with plans for the big 48th annual Millbrae Art & Wine Festival, September 1-2!

The Millbrae Chamber of Commerce has introduced the official logo for the 2018 Art & Wine Festival. The logo was designed by local artist Vasco Morelli.

"Vasco’s awesome … such an amazing creative talent!” said Festival Chair Lisa Fitzgibbons-Charney of Millbrae Jewelers. We love the fabulous, original art he comes up with every year and recognize the important role it plays in setting the tone for the festival."

"The 2018 Millbrae Art & Wine design is one of my favorites,” said Morelli. “I've recently been focusing on fine art as a part of developing identities and logos – using hand-created elements for logos (while still trying to achieve a contemporary feel) is challenging. The logo started out as an exercise in finding similarities between wine symbols and jazz – specifically using common shapes of wine bottles and trumpets as a starting point. After countless thumbnails, I found a combination of strokes and linework that allowed different aspects of the design to surface. Some see the trumpet shape right away – others see the bottle and label first. The addition of the secondary "stamp" element allows flexibility in scale and prominence- giving us options for everything from glassware to posters without sacrificing the bold yet simple trumpet/bottle icon as the main visual".
