County Library Now Accepting Entries For Its Annual Bookmark Contest

The contest, now in its 44th year, is open to children and teens from kindergarten through 12th grade.

LOS ANGELES, COUNTY — The Los Angeles County Library is now accepting submissions for its 44th Annual Bookmark Contest.

Open to children and teens from kindergarten through 12th grade, the annual contest celebrates, books, reading and art, the library said in a news release announcing the contest.

"We’re looking for drawings, paintings, and designs from all ages that celebrate books, reading, libraries, or whatever you’d like to create," the library said.

Participants will compete in one of four categories, kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade and ninth through 12th grade.

Bookmarks must feature original creations and all artists must reside in Los Angeles County to compete and only one entry is allowed per person, the library said.

All entries, which are due by Oct. 21, become the property of the Los Angeles County Library.

"Each library will select a local winner in each grade level category in November," the library explained. "Grand prize winners for each LA County supervisorial district will be selected by the Board of Supervisors in the spring; these 20 winning designs will be made into bookmarks, available across all our libraries in 2024."
