The Roost delivers holiday surprise to Angel View

$20,000 donation honors Kennedy

CATHEDRAL CITY - The Roost Lounge in Cathedral City made it a special holiday at Angel View, donating $20,000 to its programs for both local children and adults with disabilities, along with presenting toys and games for many in the kids' Outreach program.

Owners Jeff McDonald and Charles Thomas presented the check to Angel View's Director of Development Shannon O'Connor with little fanfare and celebration due to the ongoing pandemic. The entertainment bar, video lounge and stage has been shuttered off and on because of a government mandate, but continued to support their community.

"Miracles do happen at Christmastime," said McDonald. "We are so proud to support this organization and all the people they serve."

The donation was made as a loving memorial to honor the life an amazing friend and loyal customer James Kennedy, also a longtime supporter of Angel View.

The Roost is one of the newest to the area, part of the Cathedral City Town Square partnership near the Mary Pickford Theatre. The venue has made an immediate impact, instrumental in donating to many area nonprofits such as the Cathedral City Senior Center, the Cathedral City Boys and Girls Club and Angel View thanks to its faithful following.

Along with the toys and games donated by patrons of The Roost -- and a bonus Chromebook for our ongoing tech fundraiser --Angel View was extremely grateful for its ongoing partnership with the Alpha Delta Kappa teacher's group based in Palm Springs, and the LGBT Dine Out Group of the Coachella Valley (toy drive held at Bongo Johnny's). Both organizations donated toys, games, gift cards, and gas cards for our children's Outreach program.
