SAN FRANCISCO, CA — As the weekend wraps, we've rounded up some of the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

Bay Area and California leaders condemned the assassination attempt against former President Trump, who was shot in the ear during a Pennsylvania rally. Nancy Pelosi, whose home was invaded by a man carrying a hammer, said, “As one whose family has been the victim of political violence, I know firsthand that political violence of any kind has no place in our society.” Gov. Gavin Newsom reiterated the point, saying that “Violence has NO place in our democracy.”

In other news, the body of three-year-old Ellie Lorenzo, who had been missing from Fremont, was found Saturday in San Jose. Ellie’s father was found dead Friday.

An 18-year-old was also fatally shot in Hayward, marking the city’s 7th homicide of 2024.
