NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — As a new week begins, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for a great week.

But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should expect warmer temperatures Monday through Wednesday before a return to seasonal averages later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.

A heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday for much of the Bay Area, including the East Bay hills, East Bay interior valleys, North Bay interior mountains, North Bay interior valleys, interior Monterey County, mountains of San Benito County, and the South Bay.

"The warm up begins today with hot temperatures expected over the next few days," NWS Bay Area forecasters wrote Monday. "Starting Thursday, the cool down begins as troughing resumes."

In other news, a man was shot to death and several people were stabbed during a deadly brawl in the North Bay. A suspect has been detained.
