CANTON, CT — Bob Ross never tried painting on a canvas this small, but the Canton Public Library's summer reading program for children is challenging them to try.

Part of the library's 2024 Summer Reading Challenge, the annual "Tiny Art Show" is back.

And by "tiny," the library is referring to the 4-inch-by-4-inch "canvases" that are available for pickup at the Canton Public Library's circulation desk.

All children need to do is pick one up at the library, paint/draw/color on it, and then return it to the library by Saturday, July 27.

Those pieces of artwork will, then, be put on display for the month of August, an event affectionately dubbed "The Tiny Art Show."

But there is a theme to the show, according to the library.

"This year, it’s all about 'read, renew, repeat' with a focus on conservation. We’re calling artists of all ages and abilities to join us in creating tiny masterpieces that reflect what conservation means to you," wrote the library.
