Another heat wave is expected to hit Sunday, with hot weather protocols being enacted from Sunday, July 14, to Wednesday, July 17.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local officials Friday announced another round of hot weather protocols for the Town of Southington due to forecasted hot weather starting Sunday into next week.

The town's hot weather protocols will be in place from noon on Sunday, July 14, to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17. This mirrors the state's implementation of hot weather protocols.

Protocols include the opening of town cooling centers for those in the community who need a place to cool off.

Cooling locations are as follows:

• Southington Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St., Sunday: Closed; Monday to Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Southington Public Library, 255 Main St., Sunday: Closed; Monday to Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

• Southington Police Department, 69 Lazy Lane, for all hours when the library or Calendar House is closed.

Temperatures are expected to reach well into the 90s and, when combined with forecasted high humidity, it could feel much warmer.
