Westport Stands Ready To Help Hurricane Harvey Victims

Jim Marpe, First Selectman of Wesport, issued a statement about the town's preparedness for Hurricane Harvey.

WESTPORT, CT - From the Wesport Office of Emergency Management: First Selectman Jim Marpe issued the following statement regarding Westport’s Emergency Management’s preparations for potential response to Hurricane Harvey:

“As Hurricane Harvey continues to devastate the Houston area, I have instructed the Westport Office of Emergency Management to actively monitor the situation in Texas and, as appropriate, offer assistance.

As we await formal requests, our Police, Fire, EMS and Public Works are readying any equipment that may be called upon to aid in the Hurricane Harvey Relief.

Westport is a generous and giving community that tirelessly supports others in need. Any requests that we receive for provisions and supplies will be also be communicated to the public.

Please keep the residents of southeast Texas and the emergency responders who are working to save lives and mitigate damage in your thoughts and prayers.”

Westport Emergency Management Director Robert E. Yost added the following comment, “As we formulate and organize a potential response to Hurricane Harvey, we ask the Westport residents to please await for a formal request for donations of provisions and supplies.”
