‘Nasty’ Weather Day Tuesday in Windsor Locks, East Windsor; Good Changes Coming

One more tough weather day before Mother Nature gives us some good weather, at least for a couple of days.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons says today will be a “nasty weather day” as it will be cold, icy in several spots still, and a raw kind of day. Some off and on rain showers are likely too as a Nor’easter continues to pull away from Connecticut.

More than 7,000 Connecticut residents were without power this morning and numerous schools closed or had delayed openings due to icy conditions. Areas along the Connecticut coast just saw rain and strong winds.

“Nasty weather day today! Please be careful early this morning as it is very icy in many spots. Drizzle with some spotty rain at times today. High temperatures will only be in the 30s to around 40°. Nice weather coming in tomorrow! Some sunshine with temperatures 45° to 50°,” Simmons wrote.

The National Weather Service says advisories associated with the Nor’easter will be ending soon though there could be some coastal flooding at times of high tide in Fairfield and New Haven counties. Additionally, some light freezing rain is expected to wrap up this morning in Hartford and Tolland counties.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan wrote, “The forecast worked out ok all things considered. We were most bullish with the sleet in the market and compared to the weather service. The NW Hills never changed to snow so came in at the bottom of the 2-6" forecast (which was possible) and we weren't bullish enough with the sleet for the central third of the state (Hartford/Waterbury/Middletown) where the cold never left and the sleet hung on and more than an inch accumulated.”

Once we move to Wednesday that is when the weather forecast significantly changes, and change is a great thing here. Wednesday and Thursday appear to be excellent weather days with sun and temps in the mid to upper 40s.

Temps return to seasonal this weekend but the good news is there is no snow in the forecast through at least Sunday.
