TARPON SPRINGS, FL — A 17-year-old girl from Pompano Beach was killed by a hit-and-run driver while crossing U.S. 19 around 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to Tarpon Springs police, the teen was struck by a Toyota pickup truck traveling north on U.S. 19 near the intersection of Klosterman Road. The truck fled the scene.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tarpon Springs police are searching for a 2014-2017 silver Toyota Tundra pickup truck with front-end damage.

Any witnesses are asked to call Cpl. John Gibson or Officer Steve Gassen at 727-938-2849.
