$228,000 Stolen From Homeowners Associations, Account Manager Charged

A Tarpon Springs woman is accused of issuing fake checks from homeowners associations totaling more than $228,000.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL — A Tarpon Springs woman has been charged with three counts of scheming to defraud after being accused of issuing fake checks from homeowners associations totaling more than $228,000.

Jamie Lynn Fonville, 46, of the 1800 block of Wood Owl Street in Tarpon Springs was arrested Friday, according to a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said Fonville was employed with First Choice Association Management as the account manager, where she was responsible for managing the bank accounts and issuing checks on behalf of 58 homeowners associations.

Detectives were made aware of possible fraudulent activity in February 2022 and, through the course of their investigation, detectives learned Fonville created fraudulent checks using the account information from three homeowners associations. Fonville then deposited the checks into her personal bank account and used the money for groceries, daily living expenses and Tampa Bay Buccaneers game tickets. Fonville also paid her personal credit card bills with the money.

According to detectives, the total financial loss is $228,300.83.

Fonville was released on a $500 bond.
