Neighbor News

How far would you drive to save a dog's life? Really far? Transport can be arranged.

A one year old wonderful Shar Pei mix, Fatdy, sits on death row at Miami Dade Animal Services. He needs a saviour now.

Fatdy and his housemate, Thelma, were turned in to Miami Dade Animal Services by their owner on May 1, 2015. MDAS is a notorious high kill shelter with approximately 500 dogs at any one time. Constantly needing more room, the Shelter has a very high kill ratio and owner surrenders and puppies are usually the first to be killed. Because Fatdy contracted an upper respitory infection from exposure to sick dogs at the Shelter, he was shunted off to a wing where no one could see him, or be interested in him. However, many requests were put in to extend his time. While granted, those requests did little good for Fatdy when he was hidden away in a section of the Shelter where no adopters go. At this time over $480 in pledges to a rescue have been made. An adopter is desperately wanted as well.

Fatdy, sweet, dog friendly and ever so anxious for his own home, can literally be killed at any time. Any time. Please take a drive, tell your friends -- you may have some who lives closer who would save our Fatdy. He may not be with us much longer.
