MULTI-UNIT FRANCHISEES OF THE SPICE & TEA EXCHANGE BRING BIG FLAVOR TO CENTRAL FLORIDA

Sugar, spice and everything nice in Tarpon Springs

Kim and Glenn Gordon, owners of The Spice & Tea Exchange® of Tarpon Springs, located at 824 Dodecanese Boulevard, and The Spice & Tea Exchange® of Mount Dora, located at 431 North Donnelly Street, provide customers throughout Central Florida with an assortment of teas, spices, sugars, salts and more. But more than give the Tampa Bay and Central Florida areas access to more than 140 spices, 75 exclusive hand-mixed blends and 30 exotic teas, the Gordons also remain committed to giving back to their communities.

Introduced to The Spice & Tea Exchange® concept through their neighbor, who would go on to perform the build-out of our their future stores, the Gordons came away from their experience inspired by the eighteenth century trading post concept that provides the right flavors to seasoned gourmands and burgeoning foodies alike.

“Glenn and I instantly fell in love with the concept after visiting the Tarpon Springs and Madeira Beach The Spice & Tea Exchange® locations,” said Kim. “We quickly realized that this was a niche that appealed not only to us but that would appeal to the many visitors our area welcomes. We came to appreciate how the concept was beneficial for people no matter where they are on the spectrum, whether professional chef or curious novice.”

Intrigued at the opportunity to own a business that fit them to a T, Glenn, who worked for the last two decades in sales and customer service, and Kim, a stay-at-home homeschooler mother of four took the leap and took ownership of The Spice & Tea Exchange® of Tarpon Springs.

“This was a big step of faith for us,” said Kim. “I stepped up and took the reins of our Tarpon store as we got started, but not without a lot of support from Glenn and the franchise system. With their help, our business got off on the right foot. One year to the date Glenn was able to leave his career working for someone else and take over the store’s operations. Within three months we were able to open our second The Spice & Tea location®, our location in Mount Dora, Fla.”

Recognized throughout the communities they serve for their outreach every bit as much as the spices and teas they provide, the Gordons place a special emphasis on giving back to those who have helped make their stores a success.

“We run our stores with the customer always on our mind,” said Kim. “But for us that means more than thinking about the products they’d like to buy. It also means thinking about what’s important to them in the community as well. We’re heavily involved in community events, including seafood festivals, arts and crafts festivals, wine walks and more because we recognize how those events energize and inspire a community. We also support local charities and ministries through donations and gifts baskets containing items from our stores.”
